Likewise, other people will never understand that regardless of what they think, the facts say otherwise.

I'm glad you people have no real decision making powers regarding this game. You'd fuck it all up. And that's saying a lot since it's still in beta.
If you're reading this, I'm probably on another year-long ban.
Thanks GGG.

This thread is just pure gold.

For some unknown reason i actually thought that the POE community was a mature and intelligent one,but this thread alone proves this wrong.

Like seriously no matter what you do,what accomplishment you achieve there will always be someone who instantly comnpletly discredits what you have done either out of jealousy or out of pure spite:

"Hurr he used alt+f4,what a puss"
"Cleave is not a melee skill"
"He has big glasses and a trendy haircut so he must be a hipster so lets judge him by looks alone durrr"

What bunch of stupid people,go back to your basements trolls.

Summed up very nicely, sir.

You guys are all acting as if he started with the AoE increase on Cleave. He is playing solo-only, self-found items. He only recently put the added range support gem on his cleave.

As a templar, he gets increased AoE as a quest reward in cruel act 2, so not much challenge there, solo or not... And he did start with AoE increase on cleave, since the templar start area has a line of passives for it, and is in a good position to get those in the witch start area.

I'm just saying that putting his build togheter was rather easy, for a "self-found" race, since he didn't have to count on drops for his main stuff. It doesn't diminish the awesomeness of what he's doing though.

Leap slam / ground slam / lightning strike / cleave are not melee.
I have no idea who he is, but he isn't reaching the top of the ladder entirely through solo melee no matter how much he tries to fool you.

Oh so I don't know who this is either. Probably a krapp #2. Who really gives a flying fuck - honestly?? I was doing that shit, actually, we were all doing that shit in CB. Oh what, because he's streaming does that make him a Special Snowflake?? I can only sit back and laugh when I read how ppl are in awe of krapp or this nuget person when we were the ones originally experimenting and creating the "builds" that these fools are doing now. *rolls eyes*

I thought this thread was about someone showing that melee is viable? It's now turned into an attack on streamers and arguing over what may or may not be "melee".

Who gives a flying fuck who did what and when? There has been so many threads about melee and endgame that this thread should have been the shutdown to the argument. But, no. In typical internet fashion, everyone is fighting about the nuances of what is actually being done and who is doing it.

You do realize that's a new poster, right?
You're combining multiple opinions into one person and saying said person is stupid.

Do you see the connection?

Unlike some others in this thread I'm not saying what Nugiyen did wasn't impressive. I didn't enter the thread to bash him. All I'm saying is that what he's shown is that one specific melee build can be made viable by greatly increasing its range (and even so Cleave starts out with five times the range of 1h melee attacks and four times that of 2h). That shouldn't be used as a measure of melee viability.

What is amazing is that he managed to do it in a race in a rather short time with all self-found.

I will agree with you that it is amazing doing what he does on ONLY self-found items - IF that's the truth... As for getting to a high lvl in a short amount of time, there are so many CB ppl, after playing the game so many times, that can do this, so I'm not really impressed with that.

If you count on drops for your main stuff in a race you're simply being a complete idiot.
That urgument holds no value here.

It's a little hard to reply in a thread this long without some generalization. All I'm trying to point out is that people are really trying hard to derail the subject at hand by being petty.

As for melee, I just don't see the argument against cleave. If I have a stick and I can hit you with it while it's still in my hand, no matter if its 3 foot or 10 foot, it's still a melee weapon. If said weapon is no longer in my hand (if I throw it at you) it's no longer melee, it's ranged as it is now a projectile.

My two cents.
All the things I want to remember are in the places I'd like to forget.
