Crossbows

Hi

I think spectral throw will allow the option of throwing daggers, axes and suchlike so this skill should be quite interesting and blows the idea of shurikens(use EK) and other exotic throwing weapons out of the Wraeclastian waters.

The ''polearm'' axe could have a implicit 2+ to melee range. I enjoy how this game has weapons with implicits.

Crossbows this idea been around for awhile, I too would love this option a slower, higher tight damage range, more str oriented bow but I did note mention that something was being done to bows in regards to the slow shooting ones and the faster shooting ones.

The two-handed damage increases also affects bows. They now receive the new two-handed physical damage mods and the old one-handed elemental damage mods. In addition, the slowest high level bows have been given implicit mods to provide a more interesting tradeoff against fast bows
This tidbit is in the 1.0.0 balance thread in announcements this makes me think they aren't thinking of crossbows(

Perhaps a diamond player will think a crossbow unique is needed...

Spears would be a great addition they could also have the implicit 2-3+ melee range depending on the low tier to high lvl tier versions of spears, lol I miss my lancer WW from d2.

XBows yes, 1 handed or even dual wield XBows no. Plus Javelins.
Scythes, Throwing Dagger (kunai, shuriken, etc), Spear (2handed), Javelin (1handed).

Crossbows might be doable, but their implicit would need to be "reload", which would cause you to spend 1 second (reduced by attack speed bonuses) to reload every X shots.
To compensate, it would have higher damage than Bows.

However, I think Bows should automatically benefit from Strength (as if you had Iron Grip), and perhaps even stack with Iron Grip.

Whatever way it goes, it needs to be balanced.

I've made a suggestion in this thread:
New Weapon Types

I think XBows implicit should be increased Phys damage.

That's accomplished by simply increasing base damage - just like axes.
But they can be even stronger, with a cool - flavorful - drawback: reload.

Imo here's how I'd do:

1 - Heavy Crossbow = High damage. 1s Reload after each shot (reduced by attack speed bonuses).
2 - Repeating Crossbow = High speed. 1s reload after X shots (reduced by attack speed bonuses).
3 - Give Bows an Implicit = 1% increased Physical damage for every X Strength (stacks with Iron Grip)

Or even throwable spears. Just so we aren't so limited.

Marauders that run around throwing spears would actually be pretty realistic.Problem is that Marauder is a STR class and STR gives bonuses to melee damage, which is not really what spears are. There are other classes, but none will be as realistic looking as the marauder.

Tell that to this guy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sq-uMIZGETs

Heavier spear, more strength, just have alternating stat requirements and hybrids:

Dexterity (Faster, longer ranged, crit chance)
Strength/Dexterity (mid range mid damage mid speed)
Strength (heavy, slower, armour crushers)

Same with the crossbows, the repeating crossbows use more dexterity and the heavy crossbows use more strength.
