Crossbows

Make it throwing axes and throwing hammers. It would make a nice synergy with the marauders Axe and Mace nodes in the passive tree.

And oh yeah, +1 to the throwing knives/spears idea. It would fill in one of the few gaps in gameplay between this game and others.

I'd LOVE to use throwing stars in this game. LOVE it.

EDIT: LOL, they just made Ethereal Stars. Still not quite the same, but getting closer, eh? :)

i don't belive in one-handed crossbows.

the crossbow instead of attack speed should have reload speed, strength as relative stat

they should be of different types based on something like this:

1+ istant attack per reload - 1.5+ seconds time to reload - trickynumber% ignored armor - +trickynumber% phiscal dmg

probably dangerous against phis reflect but could be really fun to make builds around that. it should result in a slow fireing machine of death; new skills only for crossbow might spawn, some of the old might become "just for bows".

the javelin might be incredibly fun, as in d2 it would allow you to play melee & ranged, the ultimate strenght/dexterity combination; it should be viable for dual wielding, with maybe an incredibly lower chance to block, given the chance to do dmg before approaching, or weapon & shield.

something like this:

dual wielder - increased attack speed, both melee and projectile - less block chance
jav & shield - normal attack speed - shield block chance

how about this?

I really like the idea of crossbows, both small (one-hand) and large (two-hand). Right now, there is really low ranged weapon diversity, with only one one-handed and only one two-handed ranged weapon. I'd like to see more diversity there.

I really dislike the idea of javelins, throwing stars, throwing potions, and so on. With magic/rare/unique bows, you get the idea that the launcher is enchanted, and gives properties to the mundane ammunition. With magic/rare/unique javelins, the question "what happens when you run out?" is simply too prominent. For me, it breaks immersion and rips me out of a fantasy setting and into wondering about Wraeclastian metaphysics. Despite the need for ranged weapon diversity, I'd rather not allow stuff like this.

I really dislike the idea of bow skills working with wands. Wands don't shoot arrows. I guess crossbows still shoot arrows (sort of), so crossbows are okay. Of course, making some skills generic is okay, but a burning arrow is a burning arrow, not a burning wand blast.

xbow and 1h xbows (for dual wielding as ranger!! ;D)

woulda be awesome with those 3 choices - bow, xbow, 1h xbow
