For all we know Chaos Orbs are still obtainable from the recipe in some form, there is nothing from that line in the update notes to suggest otherwise.

Of course, you'll just have to take on content that's a tad more challenging. No more chaos orbs from farming normal Merveil, which was too effective anyway. This change is through and through of a positive nature and it'll be good for the game.
.

this could have been EASILY fixed by GGG by no longer giving rares to people who have already killed bosses.

other games have done it.
This is pretty much a bad nerf. It actually make things much worst for most players in the game. The have and have not will be a lot wider IMO. GGG needs to step back and think before listening to the community.

Wow that sounds like a terrible idea O_o. What will then happen to farming bosses (which is a staple of most arpg games)?

However how is this a bandaid fix? This is a great change for the long run. It didn't make sense that low level content can get such a huge income stream.

This is a bandaid fix because of them dealing with the actual game issue they change a viable way to earn chaos orbs. There is already in place for a viable regal orb with turning in full sets of +20% quality gear. The regal recipe also allowed a greater use of white quality gear instead of blacksmith stones and armor shards.
What happens to 80% of all the rare items that drop during normal game play? They get dumped on a vendor for alteration and on occasion alchemy shards. The players that are a little more savvy they spam trade chat and the trade forums for a couple of days in hopes they make a sell while waiting to fill out the chaos orb recipe.

So now instead of actually fixing the game issue that is being "used to it greatest potential" by a small percentage of the players they put in a fix that affects the full player base.

Instead of making it virtually non profitable for players to farm mobs/bosses 30+ levels lower then they are and "multi clienting" through adjusting the drop penalty for being over leveled to the zone you are farming. Instead they knee-jerked and put in a fix that could actually greatly affect one of the more useful crafting mechanic of rerolling rare equipment using chaos orbs.

The reason everyone wants to currently trade using chaos orbs is because so much of the player base is using them.
The top tier player base is burning them on maps, the middle tier of the player base is burning them on the"blue collar" way of crafting. Meaning the top tier player base has enough wealth to micro manage crafting for the best items through transmuting then altering then augumenting, regaling, exalting and if perfect wearing otherwise scouring and starting the process all over.
The middle tier of the player base who don't have a lot of wealth are using the cheaper form of crafting of simply chaosing a rare drop with a decent socket set up in hopes of gaining a item with better usable stats to tide them selves over until they find better gear themselves.
The lowest tier of the player base simply uses what gear they find and they use their wealth on experimenting with crafting or simply outright buying them selves a gear upgrade.

So again instead of fixing the core issue of the profitability of farming greatly lower level mobs/bosses and the huge benefit of "multi clienting". GGG puts in a fix that could adversely affect the top tier player base maintaining their access to end game maps, adversely affect the middle tier player base ability to craft gear, and the lowest tier player base in being able to buy gear upgrades, All by removing the chaos orb recipe that went very nicely hand in hand with getting rid of the plethora of crap rares that drop during normal gameplay.

I like to much this change, good job ggg!
Sorry for my english dudes! D:
I don't understand. What recipes are being changed? All of them, or just the chaos one?
I hate this change.

Just like how blizzard nerfed pot farm.

GGG, ur end game is hardly rewarding for a casual gamer like me, and when u nerf trash grind, this game is now that much less fun.

LOL, yeah pretty much the same, nerf a game breaking that going to ruin the economy in mid term and makin ALL THE CASUAL GAMERS IMPOSIBLE TO BUY NOTHING, yeah listen diamond supporting, if this becoming usual, all the hardcore gamers are goind to multiacc and exploit this recipe, and you will never in your entire life get enought currency to buy nothing.

Who cares? After the krip vid everyone and their mother is trying to get chance/scouring. I wouldnt be surprised that farming normal bosses becomes even MORE lucrative as chance orbs are in such high demand.

what krip vid?

whats this about chance and scouring?

Krip posted a vid up on his streams talking about the +1000 armor unique chest that he paid like 36 exalts for.

He touched on the math of how if you take a white base chest that the +1000 armor unique is based on and used enough chance orbs, you had a decent chance of getting the chest at a fraction of the exalt cost it costs to simply buy it out.

He stated the method he would suggest is using hundreds of scouring and chance orbs until you luck out and get the unique.

RIGHT after that vid I saw tons of people (and still do) offering to buy every single chance and scouring orb players had on them. Demand went up because everyone is seeing potential huge profits if hes right.

So .......... ok, they are going to nerf farming so that lower ilevel rares grant lower tiered orbs. Possible easy chance orbs? Shit. Bring it on.

With the increased demand and the potential of making chance orbs easier Ill exploit the hell out of the current demand and still make bank.

Where do people come up with this much bullshit, and which ass did they pull it out from?

No game has ever done what you suggest, and farming bosses for loot is exactly how every single ARPG has ever worked. If you don't like this then you're in the wrong game.
