We do it with passion, patience, knowledge and dedication.
I have over 4k hours in the game, a job, a family, friends and 2 cats. I enjoy dinners, parties and travelling every year to several destinations across the world. All I can take from your post OP is that you simply lack the ability to understand how actual adults can live their lives to the fullest. It's sad really. "Never argue with an idiot. They will take you down to their level and beat you trough experience."

Path of Exile is a game that awards you with immeasurable amounts of pleasure & fun for your creativity, try playing hardcore.
Honestly, to be completely genuine - there's only 3 types of people that I've found can't enjoy the game. First are the ones that just generally can't play it, they're just not good and die ALL the time and blame the game. Second are the people that pre-judge the game and overrate their abilities way before the game gets challenging or before they reach endgame at all and just generally have no patience and should stick to MOBAs or Battle Royale games and I don't mean that in an offensive way. And 3rd are people who just don't enjoy ARPGS, maybe you just don't enjoy ARPGS and that's it. I don't know, just make sure you're not the first two. :P A major thing is also people following other people's guides and completely ignoring the buildmaking part of the game that's like 90% of the goddamn game lol. So you don't get satisfaction because it's not your build that you're playing, but someone elses. Last edited by Acaste7#4977 on Dec 7, 2018, 3:31:06 AM

"Unlike many other games, PoE doesn't force you with predefined goals to achieve. Instead it provides game content and allows you to define your own goals. "You haven't seen many nor most builds. It will take you few years and thousands hours of gameplay to do conclusions about most of the builds. You haven't even seen the game yet - story mode is basically a trial. "You didn't like the game and you trying to insult PoE players to "prove" if they like the game there is something wrong with them. After all this game is not for everyone - good luck in Diablo Immortal. retired from forum because of censorship and discrimination

" First off, maybe take a step back before insulting players while not understanding fully what the game has to offer. Maybe try understanding that not everything has to appeal to everyone and that your approach to this just sounds like frustration rather than a genuine query. " While they do appear similar, the process getting there and the build you put together still has a distinctly different feel from one another. Variation is the appeal. Clearspeed is the result. If you're trying to say that they're all the same build, I and many others would disagree with you. " Then that's the choice of the majority of the player base. And that's no fault of the game. In the recent interview with Chris Wilson, the lead developer of PoE, he has stated that people who are are not influenced by the meta look like they're playing a different game. The point to PoE is the large amount of choices and variations you are offered and their differing end results. If most of the player base is using cookie cutter builds, then that's their choice. But to make your own build, you do need to understand the mechanics and rules to take into consideration so your choices are actually meaningful instead of "oh they all work and all succeed so whatever." Afterall, if they all have the same resulting power despite all your choices, what's the point? " The beginning season race is extremely competitive. Though I will agree there isn't much for the mid level players. But the PoE isn't about player vs player competition. Instead, it's progressing through content. The endgame content of PoE is extremely difficult for the majority of the playerbase and keeps them quite preoccupied. I would even dare say that player competition would change the game quite a bit, as many people want the ability to enjoy the various aspects of the game without stressing about their rank and min-maxing cookie cutter builds. Basically, the player sets their own goals for each league and sets off on their own "path of exile." If you do want something people can share, there are challenge trophies and mtx for challenges completed each league and the higher tiers are quite shiny and nice, not to mention difficult to get. Also good gear that is found/crafted/grinded enough to acquire is something people link to others all the time. " Again, get off your "holier than thou" attitude. The game may be addicting for some, but it would be a mistake to believe it is straight up not enjoyable to play just because you do not enjoy it. Many people play a few characters for a month or two and move on to other games until the next league drops for a fresh experience to go all out on. The updates that keep the game fresh and the all out nature of league start is more the reason for hours logged than the conclusions you arrived at. " It's literally a large chunk of the appeal of the game. But it's not what keeps people playing. Or else you wouldn't see so many expensive gear vaals at the end of the league. People grind all that time into the game to earn their gear and/or get that amazing drop so that they can further their character and feel good about its progression/feeling like a total god. So again, maybe it's because people actually like playing the game? " When you literally spend more time writing forum posts than play the game, I can see why you would believe that. I certainly do not believe PoE is perfect; In fact it is very, very, very far from it. But your conclusions just seem short-sighted and ill-informed. I didn't understand the appeal of the game either until it clicked for me after I decided I was going to try going as far as I could in the content. Maybe give the game a chance and try understanding it for what it is first before you start stating everything wrong with it. Just like the IGN reviewer, the main problem is that you're ignoring the appeal and the point completely and drawing conclusions based on extremely limited understanding of the game. Please try understanding it first or else you will be missing way too much to make a proper judgement on it. |

It's a challenge. You say all the builds are easy and the same, but you haven't actually done the content. Take out Elder, and come back to us.
