Waiting room for POE2:Return Of P-Link Devourers.

Korean online games in the west in a nutshell.

1:Great animations,impactful and engaging combat.
2:Extreme hype prior to release.
3:Servers barely have space to get in once it releases.
4:Things normalize over a week or so.
5:People start to notice the grind.
6:people notice some "shady" things in the market.
7:The drama begins,"ITS NOT P2W,YOU CAN FARM IT ANYWAY",meaning grind for 3 years or pay 5 dollars, for a CHANCE of progress,or you may not even be invited for content.
8:Many start to leave,PvP and PvE balance doesn't exist once end game is reached, patches are EXTREMELY slow. Depending on these patches certain classes wont be invited for anything for months, since the difference in power is extreme.
9:Game start to die,in a final attempt to bring players back, the content is heavily nerfed.
10:End game is impossible without investing money, nor players are prepared for it since getting to that point is exceptionally easy.
11:Players leave again.
12:Heavy P2W is introduced.
13:Fanboys are the only thing that remain, preaching how the game is great and no P2W at all,yet if you start playing you will hit a pay wall if you want to do end game,or no one is going to invite you.
14:Game is dead.
15:Next Korean game on the Horizon. The cycle starts again.

This happened with every single Korean online game ever to come to the west, don't get excited.

Savage.... And completely true.
There is, it's being called real life :p

I keep wanting to try Grim Dawn but I hate paying for games and then being disappointed. That's the only thing that's kept me from giving it a go.

Maybe wait for a sale or watch some videos. You can definitely get a strong idea of the game from videos alone. I don't think anyone who enjoys ARPGs with complex itemisation and skill systems would be disappointed by Grim Dawn. I wouldn't let the existence of a price tag be the deciding factor for what I think is the best, most authentic ARPG around right now.

OTOH maybe PoE has spoiled you there. There are lots of systems and mechanics in PoE that, regardless of how a person feels about the game otherwise, are very easy to take for granted and their absence in other games can be tough to reconcile. Money, for example. Grim Dawn has money, and it's very useful in a lot of situations. PoE, well, unless you want to compare GD's in-game npc shops with PoE's out-of-game trade indexing, it's a whole lot less about shopping and more about finding/crafting.

At any rate, GD is a great ARPG that just cleaves a little too close to the formula for my likes.

Its in combination with GDStash actually the best char-creating game i know , you can literally spend hours and even days by building a char or by recreating items.

MU Legends comes out in a couple of days. It has been mildly on my radar for a while. I will try it out, but same skepticisms as above apply.

It already came out like half a year ago and it already merged servers because of declining population. If you're looking for an arpg, mu legend is not it. It's more like an Mmo with boring leveling quests and raid endgame content that you can't repeat more than once per day, leaving you with nothing to do once done. Oh and it's also massively p2w with paying for OP item stats and pets.

I wish it was more like the original mu but it isn't. It is just another Korean p2w grinder MMo with nothing special going for it.
I'm a forum warrior, i was born to post, raised to defend my league. Now my post has been removed, chained and exiled by mods who Ban. Ban is my brother; i do not fear it. I see it in the eyes of men and beasts that i troll. It will take me to play the actual game when i am ready and i am not ready.

I we tried titan quest ragnarok, still not even A5 but currently i prefer ironman xcom torture as struggle is more pure so i can appreciate it. Even this is miracle as i could not bring myself to play at all from moment league started, played nothing at all, died emotionally, all the crap and overlooking make me brain dead.
Don't know what happened but i suspect this rota got out of hand for mere humans, remember the days when you look for something to last you long time well that's gone. Whas just talking to friend how it's pointless to play so often, could just wait a month and then play league ++.
Been jonesing for a good ARPG for some time aswell. But ironically nothing beats sinking hours into good oldies like HOMM3, Wizardry 8 (can really recommend this if you can live with outdated graphics) and DS1.
Played MU legends earlier in the year, dull.
Have Wolcen and Grim Dawn, play GD on and off.
Wolcen has an update next month so will see what happens there, do like the zones.
But PoE is my go-to pretty much every day.
~ Please separate the PoE1 and PoE2 forums.
I've dialed way down on PoE, for different reasons. One of them being that instead I could practice playing guitar.
Another is that after 5+ years I might have reached a point of saturation.
However, I like the genre, and I have some hopes in Wolcen (let's see what the update brings) and Last Epoch (alpha will start soon™). Especially LE looks promising, IMO. Really like the skill system they have.

The two ARPGs that could compete with PoE after several years away.

Diablo 4 hasn't even been announced yet, so even if they announce it tomorrow you can add 2 years to that date.
