There's no good ARPG's vs poe.

not disagreeing but what is the point when you can do everything in a week of semi casual play? After that all you are left with is endless scaling of identical content/items. I'd rather try and get d1 working, more play hours in that. (the getting it working I mean lol)

Progression in D3 sucks indeed, that might be the only reason why i don't play it as much anymore. No trading is good and bad at the same time.

I mean though, even though D3 was identical item find progression, at least it's some progression. Unless you gimp yourself and play SSF, you'll have pretty much no item progression once you purchase your gear in Path of Exile.

You don't look at loot in Path of Exile, you just grind currency to either make or buy the stuff people have made for any kind of progression. It's no wonder everyone get bored and quit one month into the league. ARPG that doesn't have loot progression is quite boring.

But that is what trade gets us. Terrible drop rates, easy gear purchase and then zero gear progression unless you want to grind out 100ex of BIS upgrades that you don't find, but purchase.

In general the drop item, use item formula doesn't work indefinitely no matter how you draw it out with rng, so you need other stuff to do beyond finding stuff. I think poe does that really well with the atlas, frequent leagues with hugely grindy challenges, the artist formerly known as racing, trade tycoon, ssfhcbtw, crafting, mf, pvp and whatever else people find to do to entertain themselves.

I keep wanting to try Grim Dawn but I hate paying for games and then being disappointed. That's the only thing that's kept me from giving it a go.
POE Serenity Prayer: GGG, grant me the serenity to accept the RNG I cannot change,
the courage to challenge any unbalanced content, and the wisdom to avoid the forums.

Players who trade to quicken their progress and then complain about lack of progression in a game are weak. Give up. You're self-defeating. If you value progress... don't trade to short cut it.

I think the issue is that progression without trading is obnoxiously slow. I would be able to support your argument if progression, especially item progression, could be more deterministic. Since it's entirely based on millions of items dropping with a handful of those being useful one must "crowd source" their item progression or be stuck in a quagmire of stagnation. Or at least that's how it starts feeling if you play for dozens of hours without finding any upgrades.

Anyway, like all of the other problems in POE, it's big, complex, and no solution will make everyone happy.

Bullshit. Currency is loot too. Once you start seeing currency as small pieces of gear that you can steadily work towards it becomes alot more enjoyable. Ofcourse you will have to dodge the general population here that can't make a chaos an hour, and hate anyone who can.

That's funny. Considering mapping gear is cheap and you'll buy that as soon as you hit level, you'll be needing hundreds of hours of currency farming to afford upgrades for your gear.

It's not about that, it's about fun. Looking at loot and getting excited about it. These games are supposed to be about progression, progression mostly in the form of item upgrades. Oh man, a Chaos orb just dropped. Let me check it's stats and see if it's any good. Oh wait, just need 720 more of these and I can buy a 10 exalted upgrade for one of my slots. Much fun.

Last time I checked this is PoE. Currency is part of the drops in this game. You can still find good items too, but the currency drops always make it so something drops that gets you closer to a gear piece you want. And yes, like others have said *SHOCKER* this is fun.

Seems like you want what Diablo 3 has right now. Only loot drops, plentiful aswell (No grinding required) instant gratification that way Sir.
Waiting room for LostArk.

Unless it becomes pay to win.

Waiting room for POE2:Return Of P-Link Devourers.
Divination Card - Emperor's Luck.
You can find Grim Dawn for like $7-8.

Korean online games in the west in a nutshell.

1:Great animations,impactful and engaging combat.
2:Extreme hype prior to release.
3:Servers barely have space to get in once it releases.
4:Things normalize over a week or so.
5:People start to notice the grind.
6:people notice some "shady" things in the market.
7:The drama begins,"ITS NOT P2W,YOU CAN FARM IT ANYWAY",meaning grind for 3 years or pay 5 dollars, for a CHANCE of progress,or you may not even be invited for content.
8:Many start to leave,PvP and PvE balance doesn't exist once end game is reached, patches are EXTREMELY slow. Depending on these patches certain classes wont be invited for anything for months, since the difference in power is extreme.
9:Game start to die,in a final attempt to bring players back, the content is heavily nerfed.
10:End game is impossible without investing money, nor players are prepared for it since getting to that point is exceptionally easy.
11:Players leave again.
12:Heavy P2W is introduced.
13:Fanboys are the only thing that remain, preaching how the game is great and no P2W at all,yet if you start playing you will hit a pay wall if you want to do end game,or no one is going to invite you.
14:Game is dead.
15:Next Korean game on the Horizon. The cycle starts again.

This happened with every single Korean online game ever to come to the west, don't get excited.

I have officially uninstalled PoE from my life recently, and have been dabbling in the rest of the ARPG market so allow me some observations:

Based on everything I have read about Lost Ark shows that it will be years before we see it in the west, if ever. There seems to be little care or even motivation for the move. They don't seem to care about missing out on the market in the West? Anyway, it looks fantastic, even with our (experienced) skepticism on Korean grind and pay-to-win.

MU Legends comes out in a couple of days. It has been mildly on my radar for a while. I will try it out, but same skepticisms as above apply.

Grim Dawn just doesn't quite hit the mark for me, and I am not sure what it lacks to my tastes. I have always been a huge fan of TQ, but Grim Dawn doesn't grab me like TQ.

I am actually playing TQ again, running a Defense/Offense character through Legendary Act 2. By the way, the Ragnarok expansion SUCKS hard, and I would recommend against buying it. All it ends up being is delay before getting to the next playthrough. Some of the quests are the most convoluted and ridiculous in the entire game.

Wolcen looks great so far but far from finished. I dabble in it here and there.

I still play D2 off and on. I always have it installed.

I get bored after about 6 hours in D3 - I install and uninstall at least once a year.

I just saw some poorly reviewed ARPG/MMO game on Steam yesterday that I may try this weekend. I looked for the name but my Steam wishlist doesn't show up on my shit computer at work.

I literally sit here as I type this and am pondering doing this as well, once and for all.

I am just tired of the awful performance of this game.

My commitment to my ho is indicative of my love for this game.

These past several days, I can not play on any gateways without reaching 1000+ ms latency.

I am considering going back to D3...at least it will fuel my addiction and is working as intended.
