STOP with this Trading Insanity
I don't give a shit if the game is hardcore or not. Not sure where that came up. All I see is people asking for ways to spend less time in the game. In my opinion, that surely leads to the demise of a game.

Please stop mixing hardcore vs softcore with trading. These are 2 (two) different subjects.
The issue at hand is that the trading system is completely inefficient and and extremely poor implementation. No harm done, GGG is a small company. The important thing is that they realise this and try to improve in the future. And they realised it and promised improvements. It would be nice to know exactly what those improvements are supposed to be, this is not some new story arc that needs to be hidden. In the meantime, my provocation to the anti-AH group stands: Please suggest&describe a system that works as good and as efficiently as an AH, but isn't one. Thanks. placeholder for creative sig

Step 1: Fill your inventory with stuff until you can't fill it no more
Step 2: Make a public game called *giving stuff away for free* Step 3: Wait for game to fill up Step 4: Give all your shit away Step 5: Rinse and repeat steps 1 to 4 until all the shit you owned that you didn't want for your own characters, clan or friends is gone. Step 6: Go to bed and sleep well knowing you've just made many friends and helped out others who may have actually needed the gear more than you and in the future may return the favor. Not only does this build character, but it also builds a great sense of community.Giving without expecting anything in return is the greatest single thing you can do in life. =P Last edited by Temper#7820 on Mar 17, 2013, 2:32:24 PM

" This is great&stuff, until you realise that you were the only guy that proceeded this way, and what you gave for free is now making somebody on the forums quite a few nice orbs. Yeah, =P placeholder for creative sig

" Explain again why a "better" system is needed and why "inefficient" is not what GGG wants. Much like their implementation of FFA looting, I have a feeling that they want the "exiles" playing to work for their stuff. That means keeping an eye out at all times whether it be looting or trading. Just because it is inconvenient or requires you to be better at it is no reason to say it needs improvement. |

" This is not the game itself, it is trading, a parallel related system, keeping it inefficient is crap. Exiles would ideally indeed work for their gear. That's why I suggested quite a few times that good gear should be BoP/BoA/BoE and classified&balanced as such. Only not-so-good gear should be tradeable, to help the less fortunate adventurers. No worries, if GGG won't implement an AH, other sites certainly will, in the future, this is how we humans work, always looking for the most efficient stuff. My provocation remains meanwhile: Please name and describe a game trading system at least as efficient as an AH. placeholder for creative sig

" In terms of efficiency, nothing beats an in-game searchable listing system. You can make trading look and feel different, but if we don't have something akin to AH in terms of functionality, it will be inefficient. I think you're missing the point of the inefficiency: it's to create a non-transparent market where shady dealing is systemic. For example, you never know what the actual "going price" for anything is because rates are set by key traders, individuals rather than the market as a whole. The inefficiencies also hide broken game mechanics like crafting, since if everyone traded openly and efficiently, we'd find out how much each orb is actually worth relative to the other orbs. The devs' stated reasoning is that they don't want the game turn into AH Tycoon which harms the in-game economy. This is a worthwhile and commendable goal, but they haven't considered that AH is where you saw the economic problems rather than the root cause. There are other ways to address those problems besides gimping trade so much. For what it's worth, at least they are considering improving the trading system. Let's wait and see. Hopefully, it'll come in time before 3rd party trading and RMAH becomes prevalent. |

" Thanks for this. So, basically, for a better trade system (still inefficient from what I saw in that topic), I will have to pay? The moment that appears in PoE, I'm officially off the game, never to return. Such a move is as bad as a RMAH from Blizz, and this was the only reason I never even purchased D3, even as I was out of any RPG at that time. placeholder for creative sig
