Tencent & Charan

This would be tragic if it WAS 51%. But 80%? UGH.

This has obviously been in the works for many months, at least. I'm guessing the negotiations were going back and forth for awhile and they were expecting it to take a bit longer? One never knows with these. That would explain the strange timing in lieu of other, recent news anyway.

Having been involved in a few ways with m & a before (mostly negatively) I was expecting this for a long time. Kinda like a sick relative that you know will die but you don't know when and then when the shoe finally drops it's not a shock but still a terrible thing.

I had a quick browse of the reddit's mood regarding this.

They seem not to understand that 80% does indeed mean a lot more than 51%.

I've no intention of engaging with that sort of thickheadedness.

Dude it's pretty sickening how they're all treating this.
So, let me just clarify some stuff here:

the previous holdings was with Chris 41%, and the rest of GGG has around 3% or less.

now it's Tencent 80%, GGG 20%, and the others removed.

so now 80% of GGG profit goes to Tencent. I don't know enough to express a lot of opinion here, but isn't owning 75% or more let's you decide directors? that and closing the company too.

Chris, if you are making PoE 2, you have to take us with you

The mods on the subreddit are taking down new posts about this too, trying to mitigate discussion. It's also VERY disturbing how many people there are just like "Why is everybody freaking out? It'll be okay"

I think you'll find that there is a set of rules to posting on reddit which include not posting multiple threads about the one thing when there is already an open discussion going on about it

That's my spoilered speculation.

Believe it or not, I'll support whatever he does next. I don't think he got into this gig planning to end up here, like this.

Maybe that's why he floated the idea of a PoE directors cut in the last beaclast.

From the moment a tendril of Tencent touched Path of Exile, I began to hear whispers of terror at the back of my mind, the nagging fear that GGG might get bought out haunting my mind. Now Tencent has coiled their writhing appendages around GGG, and they're going to siphon the lifeforce from this beloved game, leaving nothing more than a gibbering husk.

I'm legitimately terrified at where this is going to go, and my confidence in the game, and developers has been beyond shaken. GGG is nothing more than a facet of Tencent now -- why should the finger believe it has any freedom from the hand? If they want to, then Tencent can easily make GGG bend in line with whatever depraved whims they desire. I'm legitimately freaking out, and that's only building.

Oh spare me. We don’t need everyone creating their own thread about the same topic.

I’m glad that the moderators are removing spam (yes, that is exactly what they are doing).

Good guess Mr. Whale.

I really wouldn't be surprised if this is Chris cashing out.

He claims not to be, for whatever that may be worth to you.

Well, I'm on a fence regarding further support. I just need to be quite drastic to the amount of "wealth" hoarded, and I'll never need further "goodies" regarding stash tab (or just focus on leagues more), and with the new packs being so "lackluster" I definitely don't feel the incentive to keep "supporting".

They need to drastically adjust their "current" prices, if they hope to ever see some further support from me again.

As "tainted" as GGG and PoE became by this move, at least the game became "fully" F2P for me, from now on...
PSS: Our almighty TencentGGG overlords are very scrupulous regarding criticizing their abilities to take proper decisions and consider everything "needlessly harsh and condescending"...

Good to know "free speech" doesn't apply in any form or manner on the forums these days...
