youve trashed the game
they don't have to disable them. just nerf them. we're doing the beta testing right now for them.

two token examples nothing gamebreaking? well, these are ilvl 73 iirc, from tier 4 map, rolls are low, amy has no life etc but i would not say no to +10% life leech rate cap (vaal pact) on a piece of kit, when entire tree gives me less and these are not that rare.. |

As someone who played PoE for years and recently came back from a 2-year break, I'm quite concerned about what these items will do not just to the market on Standard, but to how the game content is balanced in the future.
I tend to buck meta trends, so that's left me struggling to beat tough content as-is (Atziri, Shaper, some unique maps, etc). I was fine with this, as it was something to aspire to someday - or just zerg through with a million deaths after I stopped caring about leveling. I've worked very hard to get the semi-decent gear I have, and am constantly thinking about pros and cons in tweaking my builds. It's been a lot of work and a lot of thought, and it's based on an understanding of the top-tier items that are available. After a few months of these OP items spreading throughout the game, I'm worried that new 7-8L rares will become mandatory and all the things I've worked so hard to acquire will become obsolete. Future crafting would be solely focused on huge damage conversion mods or extra link mods, and the old options would just fly out the window. What were decent rares now worthless, mirrored items down to a few chaos - I don't really understand what GGG's goal is in throwing a huge monkey wrench into our entire perception of what's powerful/valuable and what isn't. Then, we have the reality of mobs and bosses inevitably being balanced around this stuff. Say goodbye to all of your builds, folks - those 6-link items you worked so hard to craft or trade for simply won't be viable anymore. I came back to PoE because an acquaintance told me the storyline was finished and we were hoping GGG could work on improving the content we already have. I quit in the first place because I felt like my time and work was not valued enough, as each new dump of new content made all the old stuff obsolete and I had to spend a lot of time and currency "fixing" the characters I'm still slowly working on (my full essay is here: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1439292). Now I'm finding myself very worried that those characters will be broken yet again as I have to spend currency I don't have on a new, drastically elevated standard of viable gear for mapping. Oof. This is like a punch in the gut. We're all in this leaky boat together, people. Last edited by demon9675#2961 on Dec 12, 2017, 2:32:52 AM

So, I am really wondering.
How many of those game breaking new items do you actually OWN yourself? Ten? Hundred? Yeah, I thought so, none. Or please, indulge me. I was deeming Mirror of Kalandra game breaking too, until I found none in five years or so. Posting a picture of powerful one item does not make the game thrashed, really. |

I thought all you needed to do was find an appropriate base and roll it. Its not like rolling an item until it gets the crazy stats is the same as finding a mirror.

" That's not an argument. Sooner or later you are able to buy anything and everything, if unable to loot it yourself. These items are gonna spread all around the leagues. Mind that the examples in this thread were looted in day 2-3 of the league. Yet a crapload of these is about to follow. This is a buff © 2016

" In this regard, I am really on your side that the Shaper / Elder items should be corrupted from the start ~ not bases for crafting. It would make those god tier items rare and singular. This decision baffles me. We shall see if it gets out of hand. In the end, the ultimate victim can be Standard / Hardcore leagues while in new leagues, they will simply change it all. An in all honesty, I care only for temporal leagues, that is perhaps why I don't bash this change too much |

Dougal and Fred do seem to have gone way off the deep end.
We tested it extensively

yep there is a new higher tier of items... but at what rarity?
if these are dropping all over the show then its a problem. If pre-War for Atlas gear is now redundant, its a problem. It was already possible for a small subset of players to trivialise all the content in the game, the only genuine concern is if these new items allow too many people access to that level of power at too low a cost. There may be a real issue, but posting a screenshot of a powerful item doesn't mean anything out of context. |

Pretty sure those items are here to stay.
Would help out SSF (and many cried out loud for some sort of help) and xbox players as well. Latter ones cant trade efficiently, so they cant expect to gear their chars the same way we do on PC. Now they can. But this league is featuring those items. So they will drop a lot more often than they will later on - IF these items are merged into the core game. Which I do expect to happen, but as I said, at a way lower drop rate. I´m kinda fine with it. But I´d like it a lot better if those drops were gated behind boss kills and the powerlvl is determined by the map tier. Say white maps can roll only 1 support thingie, yellow maps 2, red maps 3 and for 4 mods you need to kill T15+ bosses. Something like that. Items like this shouldnt drop from trash. |
