Prizes should be different for hardcore and softcore, why would i play hardcore?

the game finances itself by selling ethical mtx to players but the best looking ones (f.e. perandus portal) or the ones having unique features like increased char size are not for sale.

doesn't that strike anybody beside me as being contradictional?

do we need more amazing stuff which is outside the reach of supporters?

Can we stay on topic please.

Yes, the chances of winning the rewards are very low, but that is not the point. The point is i might aswell play softcore because my chances are better there. Simply because i can steamroll everything and dont give 2 cents about my defences, and i do not thing that is fair or fun.

you are correct of course, SC is significantly easier and offers the same rewards

while It would be cool if GGG went back to separate rewards, they have decided its not worth their time/effort

I dont ask them to make more rewards. I simply ask them to seperate the rewards.

Like less rewards on softcore. Which would only be fair. Hardcore is harder as you said.

could do that but might piss off the SC folks and they are the majority
I dont see any any key!

As a SC player I would not get pissed off at all if HC races gave more rewards than SC ones.

I don't think anybody here would fail to understand just how much harder it is to achieve the same things in HC. More risk = more reward.

Of course, GGG would then need to step up the policing of auto-logout hacks. As it stands right now, HC is not as much harder than SC as it should be, at least for some people.

Thank you, happy there is some sc players that understands.
Any SC player saying they don't play HC for X reason is a liar. You play SC because you like it more.

true, when the time available to play per league is barely enough to level one char to 93 there is no time for perma rerolling a character to play endgame.

Because of the marvelous internet hiccups?

Does insulting random people here&there make you feel better?

Honestly, DrDraids' statement feels like a content-free expression. "because you like it more" can be further split down into "I like it more because..." at which point whatever DrDraids' calls a "lie" becomes truth.

That is,

"I like it more because of the marvelous internet hiccups that would prevent HC from being as liked."

"I like it more because my chances at prizes are higher."

As for what DrDraids probably intended, the sentiment is probably similarly meaningless; the whole point is that prize allocation skews enjoyment. Despite the fact that enjoymentFrom(IncreasedPrizeChance + baseSCMechanics) may currently exceed enjoymentFrom(baseHCMechanics) for Anubis, it is still a fact that enjoymentFrom(IncreasedPrizeChance + baseHCMEchanics) would provide higher total enjoyment for him than the current state of affairs, hence he has a legitimate reason to ask GGG to split prize pools.

Updated title to be more relevant.

I dont know how many of you remember this event but will use it as an excample.

I think it was in the flashback event a year ago or something like that we had a blue armour for softcore and a red armour for hardcore.

I think that was a okey way to do it because like any other game there should be a visible reward for doing harder content much like you get an achivement for killing shaper.

It is not really because i think hardcore players should have more rewards, not at all. I just want them to be different so there is an actual reason to play the harder content.

This is how i felt in the last event:

I want to play hardcore because i find softcore boring.
I want to chase the rewards but because my chances are better on softcore i might aswell do that.
It was not a very fun event for me because of this, and i was actually so demotivated that i stopped playing entirely. I might be the only one feeling like this, but i hope not.
I can't play softcore for any length of time without getting bored, so softcore vs hardcore isn't really a matter of choice for me.

I'm not bothered by the prize pool being the same for both softcore and hardcore players. It doesn't impact my life in any meaningful way.

I suppose I could be disappointed or annoyed by the higher level of challenge associated with leveling up in hardcore, vs softcore. And, if hardcore was so dangerous that it was a big challenge to reach the same levels as softcore players, then I might feel differently about the prize pools being shared. But, that's not the case. It's easily possible to hit at least level 85 in hardcore, even when not playing a lot of hours.

Receiving the small number of humble MTX rewards I've received from these short leagues feels just a little bit sweeter because I chose a (slightly) harder path toward making myself eligible to win them.
Now that prestige classes will finally leave lab in 4.0, will GGG get it right this time or will they find new ways to repeat old mistakes?
