Prizes should be different for hardcore and softcore, why would i play hardcore?

I posted several times in this thread that it has nothing to do with what the prizes are excactly, my problem is that there is no logic in chosing hardcore if you care about winning the rewards, because they are so much easier to obtain on standard.

Well, then play SC if you want the rewards...? Or play HC and know for yourself that you've achieved the rewards on HC. Would making the number be on red rather than blue background if done on HC help?

I will be so bold here to make a statement that everybody that disagrees with this is probaly only playing standard and the few in this thread that agreed actually plays hardcore because they understand the dilemma.

I tried to make a mostly selffound, self-developed build to kill Atziri on HC. Did not succeed because I ripped at level 74 or so. One day I will do it again. But I don't need anyone to tell me that I did it then. I just know I did. Isn't that enough? It really seems to me like you worry about your bragging rights.

Apart from that, if they can just make HC rewards differently, like for example make the Harbinger rewards a slightly different shade of blue, or make the totem poles platinum instead of gold (or the standard ones be silver, I would actually prefer silver), without spending more than a few hours of dev time on it, I am fine with that. If it eats lots of dev time, I'd rather have them be the same, because then that dev time can be spent on something more useful (like fixing bugs or working on balance, hah, whom am I kidding ;)).

Has nothing to do with bragging, you are not listening.

Then I just don't understand your thinking. You want to remove the easy way to get the rewards, because you think you should be forced for your personal enjoyment to go the hard way? Hm. Interesting. You are aware that this affects a lot of other people though? Or you just don't care about them?

But then you would still have to play SC to get the SC rewards. Or do you want to remove SC rewards completely?

Also you said nothing about my idea about just changing the hue or whether the number on a red background rather than a blue would help you.

Seriously, play the game mode you like. SC, HC, SSF, whatever floats your boat. You will still know for yourself which mode you did the challenges in, won't you?

I'm for separating the prize pools, personally. If a prize tier is randomly allocated to, for example, 100 characters over level 90 then SC players have a much easier time getting to that tier and, ergo, an easier time getting those spots. It's fundamentally unbalanced. I agree that people shouldn't focus too much on prizes and should just play the league that most appeals to them (I personally love the challenge of hardcore, especially when it comes to endgame content like Uber atziri, though I haven't played HC in a league for a few iterations). That said, it costs the devs nothing to separate the pools and arguably it provides a more fair distribution. As it stands (presuming the pools are shared - I haven't personally verified that) it's like there's a race and everyone that completes it at specified time intervals is entered into a raffle, only some people are racing on foot and others are in chevrolets.
Play HC because you like the playstyle, simple.
