Will GGG sell out?
" This isn't their lives... it is their jobs. You could also say there is more to your job than money.... that would be correct to just a minority of people, but i could agree to that anyways, but they wont have to quit their jobs, they would just go to the next project, way bigger than this and with much more viability and time to develop. And don't forget their lives would get easier... they would have money to keep them and their families safe for a long time and could work mainly for the pleasure of it. So i would have to say, imho, if the offer is good enough they would sell it with pleasure... don't forget though people buy things for a reason, and i don't think they would try to take POE away from its niche. I love the game, but it cant fight Diablo 3 in its own market, its an old engine, outdated graphics and responsiveness... what attract people to it is the game's own uniqueness... just hope buyer can see that and it would work for everyone even if they "sell out". |

Where are you guys hearing those rumor from? I honestly don't see big publishers like EA or Activision being interested in GGG. I mean, just look at the way GGG handled the game, comparing it to Diablo 3.
What Blizzard did with Diablo 3, for better or for worse, is the kind of thing that is more along the way big publishers roll. Every game EA and Activision fund must be accessible to as many people as possible, their targeted audience is just different from GGG's. GGG's approach is to appeal towards the smaller group of people that really look for specific quality in a game rather than being accessible. Someone from EA said they do not consider Dead Space 3 a success if it did not sell 5 million copies. That's the kind of target these big publishers have, and Path of Exile doesn't fit the bill. |
