Is Vaal Pact a cheese mechanic?
"You are not alone. I'm missing hp reg. Also. I think very good HP reg. is better than VP. |

VP is needed to counter 4 years of powercreep bullshit.
Can't be nerfed, cant be removed, unless the whole game is rebalanced. So in a way, yes. Hate this damn passive to its guts, but too much depend on it it seems. Last edited by Kasapnica#2414 on Oct 24, 2017, 3:00:28 PM

Think about where you can get leech from:
Passives Ascendancy Supports Curses/Blasphemy Weapons Helm Armor Gloves Boots Belts Rings Amulets There is literally no source of character mod that can't grant leech. It's too easy to get. Vaal Pact is the symptom of the problem. |

" And this one shot, spike damage rip fest, alt-f4 sponsored game design is the root of the problem. IGN: Arlianth

" Except leech without vaal pact is still restricted by the max leech rate, so the availability of leech mods is only really an issue with instant leech. There's nothing really wrong with leech being readily available when there's a measure put in place to limit what you can get out of it. The problem is the keystone (or gear) that allows you to completely remove that limit. |

Vaal Pact Keystone needs to be completely removed.
In the long run POE will benefit from the removal. |

This again?
Removing VP will just pigeonhole players even more. Removing an option is never going to be good. Because that's what VP is. An option. What if VP users were like, "GGG needs to remove life regen. It's a survival option and it works in keeping a player alive. I don't like that. I want struggle struggle struggle!" Then VP is the only remaining method of regaining your life pool. Because that's the reality. There's VP, and there's life regen. Why remove 1 of the 2 options? Even a couple life regen users in here admitted the weakness of VP. You rely on having an active target. Whereas life regen is literally always there for you. It just doesn't heal as fast as active VP healing - generally speaking. And it's not like you can just click on the VP keystone and say, "ALRIGHT, TO HELL WITH DEFENSIVES!" People act like VP is a one-button wonder. Get VP, and you're free to stack billions of damage. No. You still need other defensives. You can't leech life when you're dead. And you can't attack every frame. This topic is over. If you wish to continue it, I want to see other threads as well, like, "nerf Enfeeble." "Nerf Fortify." "Nerf criticals." |

" No cheese. Try it out and you’ll see for yourself. |

" Wow, I had no idea strawpolls had the power to instill such rage. I'm, er, sorry? I'm not a sith, though, so I generally don't agree with absolutes like "Removing an option is never going to be good." Imagine you had a button that we'll call the "pickle button." All Scions can spec into this node near the Scion start that grants you the pickle button and pressing the pickle button kills all enemies on your screen instantly. Now you can immediately see a few problems with this. People are going to be psychologically pressured to play Scion, hence you see posts like "omg Scion OP, please nerf," and of course when you hop into parties you'll see nothing but Scions. But even supposing you could handwave those issues away, all like "if you don't like it don't play it!" "mind your own business" etc., you happen to notice the game developers starting to say things like, "Oh, the Giant Weta enemy is perfectly balanced, you see players killing it all the time" "But Chris the only players that can kill it are the ones who specced into the pickle button..." This is all very theoretical, of course. I don't have the slightest clue if Vaal Pact is actually overpowered, which is why I started this topic to get everyone's opinions. Need game info? This was tricky, for I am actually lactose intolerant.
But I still voted for cheese. Zaanus:
Global chat: Mechanics for A work one way, B for another, C for a third but also with A, B uses C but not A, and D uses A&B but not C ___ Isn't a "no" better than an ignore? |
