Steam!

Steam is great. I like Steam for some games, but I don't want all or even the majority of my games to be on Steam. POE doesn't feel like a game that would be on Steam. POE is going to be free, and most of the free games on Steam are garbage. POE outclasses them all. I'll support POE however I can, no matter where it does or doesn't end up.

I'd really like this on steam, i think it'd be more easier for me to manage games. Since, I don't like having loads of icons of stuff on my desktop.

Was this needed? I mean, you didn't exactly need to post this. No offense.

Or maybe you're just one of these "wawawawa if PoE goes on steam and gets a larger playerbase it won't be as cool and hardcore and I'll have to quit because I want to be cool and hardcore and edge, oh and d3 sucks".

Reviving and old topic, I'd like to see PoE on Steam too for 6 reasons:

1) I really trust the economy system that Steam has. Not saying that GGG system is bad at all, but I know people that doesn't change a paying system they already trust.

2) There are THOUSANDS of indie games that many wouldn't have known if they weren't promoted on Steam, which manages 5 million people every day. Specially with this Greenlight project going on. So there's a good chance that the appearance on Steam amortizes any costs that Valve may ask.

3) I said "may ask" because, if I where Valve, and I'm not making any game to compete directly against Diablo 3, I'd promote the f**k out of any other game for free that can divert the public going for the competition to a game available on Steam (without being exclusive for Steam, though, if that's the condition, Steam is already a free platform, so I don't think there's much problem with GGG policy of "free to play").

4) If Steam manages the full-game downloads and the updates, then GGG's servers would be less busy to manage the game itself and their users playing. Though, I don't know if Steam servers are the ones that manage the downloads or just act as intermediary connection...

5) Steam Trade system applied to PoE could be very interesting and a nice added value to the user market.

6) Steam Achievements are always fun and comparing them with friends encourages your improvement and to try new things.


I want PoE the have success and I really believe, among other users, that Steam can be a good choice to increase the user count and pay off to maintain PoE servers running for a looong time.

Tip: use a folder or a shortcut bar for your shortcuts. steam ui is similar to a folder. but srsly the desktop was made for containing shortcuts Oo

i don't think steam is good for poe. generated profit must be shared with steam. that' s the reason why LoL (league of legends) canceled their coorp with steam.
only lowuser-f2p profits from steam due to the popularity of steam and the ad in the announcement-frame.

i don't wanna see my poe acc linked with steam acc and cannot play while steam is offline

don't forget: u are not the owner of the games you purchased @steam. u have only a licence to use them.

I personally love steam, and with its new greenlight feature, i think PoE would be a perfect fit and would mesh very well with the steam community. A lot of people are supporting upcoming games just like this one and i'd love to see such a great looking game get the popularity it deserves. I'm all for getting PoE on steam!

Name me one game that must require steam for play ?

I believe most of games on steam has standalone clients for non steam players. Anyway steam is good publicity for this game but they need better servers and support for possible newcomers(deysnc already a issue). Great game and deserve better places.

Dota 2 is one that I know of.
