caps, you don't seem to understand the difference between claiming ownership of the art and code 'copyright'. which is what the p.o.e.'s eula states. and saying we 'own' that part of your hard drive pertaining X game you paid for and doing what we want with it. also you did not read the entire t.o.s. that part does indeed pertain to the software.

Well gosh you sure explained the legal comprehension reading comprehensions. I thought that POE's TOS explicitly saying they retain all rights and only license their software was the same as Steam's EULA saying they retain all rights and only license their software. Then you explained how very different they are!

No, just kidding.

Yeah, I'm quoting your typo for a cheap shot. Feels good.

Yeah, let's do the reading comprehension thing.

You ready?

Also, steam has a patcher and will update software.

That's a very rough translation.

For one thing, they don't have complete ownership of their licensors' property. They've just been allowed to give out licenses.

This is called most EULAs.

So the big differences are:
1. Steam also licenses other content through subscriptions.

Yeah, I probably should have mentioned that.

But that's it.

What do you think the POE patcher does when it launches?

Answering the title:
Steam would be a good way to make more people play the game, even the trade system like teamfortress would be great. The question is how far would GGG go losing a small share of profit - most mmos dont go far.

I think Steam could be good for PoE. Of course they would take their cut, but I think after all is said and done, it would make this game even bigger.

Also, I want moar steam achievements. :D
IGN : Jovial
This is a great idea. If this game is moved to steam, it will be available to the wider public.

Was this needed? I mean, you didn't exactly need to post this. No offense.

For all the FUD-mongerers.. Runic Games stated that releasing Torchlight on Steam was one of the best decisions they made. The costs involved were minimal (several thousand dollars) and the return was astounding.

Steam cannot and does not revoke the data on your computer. They can however revoke Steam Controlled rights (that are running through Steam servers) if you are caught cheating and detected via Steam Guard. Seeing as PoE doesn't use Steam for online gaming, nor Steam Cloud saves, this point is moot.

They can disable your account if your caught using a stolen credit card, and quite frankly, I support that right.
I rly dont wanna see it on Steam .. Steam aint cool at all nowdays .. and they take redicolus prices for the games also! .. i like it as it is now .. and btw!! .. just got myselft a KEY :DD TIME TO PLAY!
Steam haters are irrational, just as all bandwagon haters prove to be.
I've linked my PoE through Steam, it works fine for the overlay etc.
Fact is, getting PoE on Steam would be great for GGG and the game, which in turn is good for the players.
Console loot filter for POE2 Please!
Didn't bother to read all the stuff Kaiser wrote, this chocolate tastes to good.
/nonsense/
Anyway, there are no reasons to leave the game out of Steam.
The platform is amazing, the costs are minimal, Valve gives you mostly Cart Blanche, and it exposes the game to a huuuuuuuge audience.
People be hatin' on Steam 'cause they're idiots.
Seriously though :v
Game costs?
WARNING: ALL CAPS AHEAD.
DO YOU SERIOUSLY, EFFING THINK, THAT VALVE DECIDES THE PRICE ON THE GODDAMN GAMES? THEY DON'T PUBLISH THEM. THEY JUST... I DUNNO... WHATEVER IT IS THEY DO. BUT THEY DO NOT SET THE PRICES.

/caps/
Patch costs?
Bollocks argument. The X360 suck, we all know that, and Microsoft suck - we all know that too. What does Steam have to do with them?
Look at all the indie games. Torchlight, Trine, Myst, and so on.
Do you see the common denominator?
They are all indie games that published their sequels on Steam.
Also, look at Double Fine! The finest indie studio out there, and every single product they have released for the personal computer is on Steam.

Steam lets the developers play just the way they want to - whether as to include DRMs, DLCs, Steamworks, extra protection, external servers, updates and so on.

Steam is a free, boundless and limitless platform. And when comparing the costs to the profits, there is no question.

LONG LIVE STEAM!
