Not worth to pick up ANY items
It's not worth it to pick up any items if everyone gets 100000 items in a single session of the game. If you ignore all of this shit why would someone else buy it from you.
If everyone got good stuff all of the time (like now) then shit would be cheap anyway. It's decayed because it's a self-inflicted problem of everyone wanting to be super efficient as possible with many item drop buffs all running 30 second strands selling each other the exact same items everyone else can find playing all the exact same build so they all use the same items. If we want to go back to "worth picking up every rare to id" we need to make maps drops impossible for casual players to solo sustain with small amount of effort and nerf the fuck out of drop rates. Also remove master crafting from the game. Last edited by RagnarokChu#4426 on May 1, 2017, 6:33:56 PM

when players feel they don't get good loot vs played time or the grind is too much they will seek out ways to cheat and eventually poe will just be bots and people trying to make forum gold just like diablo2 ended up.

" We just need less rare drops, but with increased "quality", to compensate. ATM, PoE's item mods system produces too much junk - even highlvl item can get mods of lowest tier (hello, +5 ES), and some mods are useless even at highest tiers (hello, +6 hp/sec regen). Furthermore, for weapons, odds for high-tier physical rolls are reduced far beyond "normal" rng. It was made in Eternal era, to prevent too easy crafting of mirror-worthy weapons. Eternals gone, and now it's incredibly hard to get a weapon with great physical DPS, and it penaltizes attack builds using rares, while also forcing players to use unique weapons. So, GGG has to throw TONS of rares at player, to give him even dim chances to obtaining something good... " It's true, but it's not the main problem, actually. The problem is that it's not worth to pick up even POTENTIALLY GOOD loot, because it wastes too much time to be picked, identified and checked for stats. At that point, indeed, some players may think "why do i have to check all that junk? Let bot does that for me". And indeed, bots can pick up ALL rares from ground, check them and save ones with good rolls - cause bot's time is "cheap". When your game so strongly encourages bots, they WILL flood it, whether you ban them or not, GGG. with sheer player count reducing rares quantity by 75% just makes 0 difference
the item market will saturate 3 days later. big deal answer to this situation is simple: - build diversity (currently you should be playing any build as long as it is ES based..) - chaos sink. hard chaos sink - 2c/1c recipes reversed fiddling with item quantity will only widen the chasm between trading and non-trading players (and im pretty sure that majority of the playerbase DOES NOT trade. ggg wont alienate their paying customers without a solid reason) and whats worse - wont change a thing. it will just delay the inevitable problem with item saturation cannot be changed with numbers but with system changes - build diversity, actual currency sink, well-placed incentives why chaos sink? i was reading reddit th eother day and saw a post: loot from 100 XXX maps, total cost of rolling leaguestones 2300chaos. but.. but.. but it isnt a cost. these chaos orbs just changed hands. nothing got removed from the economy whatsoever. on the contrary - these leaguestones PRINT money like crazy if player doing this 100 map run bonanza had to BURN chaos orbs we would have actually a pretty different economy. paying for content is bad. but at this point you could still play maps - but without the candy. or.. with candy, caring about these 1c sales people ask you to do from time to time. |

" It is not about currency. You should read the thread again if you do not understand what is being brought up. and I've only died 39 times. (c) Libbritania ( tokimeki ).

Only way to "sink" chaos orbs reliebly is to make something trully unresistable for general conformistic public.
Like some ugly stupid wings from ass for 5000 chaos cosmetic effect. Or "buy from vendor only" linear maps like shaped strand, with some exp bonus. Or something else truly and fanaticly desirable by worst parts of mmo-people. Everything more sublime or weak will be simply ingored or overfarmed to even more sad balance. |

I think that GGG has fallen into the same trap like the makers of Wildstar. They have created a game mostly for a very vocal minority, while forgetting that most gamers these days are casuals, who have family, jobs and in general less time to spend online.
By making the game as difficult as it is in regards of endgame bosses & drop rates, only very few can fully explore Wraeclast, leave alone finding their gear by themselves. It is hilarious that I play since a whole year and yet have to find a six link or get one of my masters to level eight or ever see Shaper, Überlab, Über Atziri and the like. While it is fun to have goals, it´s just horrible to know that these things are out of reach unless I go to an external website and buy myself loot. Loot, that the game should offer me and not some silly cash cow website. My current summoner, has three rare items, gloves and boots which were found at merciless when I started maps and a chest, that I crafted myself. None of those items are great, but I can´t find anything better, no matter what I do. I spent more than 250 fuse trying to six link, more than 300 Alt´s, 100 chaos and nothing. If drop rates are so poor, than at least crafting should offer me an alternative, but it doesn´t. I understand that for our vocal minority who plays all day and uses poe trade, all of that is not understandable and I will be called dumb, lazy and what not. Fact remains though, that playing this game is not very rewarding. I don´t need to find a mirror, but I want to upgrade my gear as I progress in that game. Running maps up to T15 does not feel rewarding, the uniques I find are often low level, Atziri has yet to drop me her mace in many months of play and a golem gem, do they even exist, as I have not seen them yet?! In my opinion, GGG should look at the player stats and find out how many people actually killed shaper, how many have level 84 rares equipped and so on. Uniques could scale, so that finding a low level unique on a t15, is automatically better than finding it at normal and that low level rare´s no longer drop at maps. At times I find items with 5 ES, what is this? :) GGG has done so much right with this game, but they need to find a way out from that hardcore nerd philosophy, as most gamers are not like that. Wildstar ignored Casuals too long and the game has died, so have others that tried to cater their game to a minority. |

Ygidua, agree with a lot of points.
With all this discutions I always have in mind other f4p game - Warframe. Indeed, it have its own tonns of harsh problems (and by far not a perfect game), still it runs more wise strategy for casual players - with pretty rewarding daily missions, "alerts", events and so on. In WF, even you are complete crab-handed noob (but play regulary! no even much), you can progress in game with far more dignity and satisfaction then in PoE. Difference between day 1 casual player and day 1000 hardcore fan not so terrible or drammatic, it can be very fastly narrowed. All is achievable by means of common mediocore player (in good sense) in reasonable time end effort. Most importantly - you have in WF real build diversity (even if system overall is very minimalitic), so can play as you like, have fun and still beat/experience all content. It PoE you more o less play "as you must to survive/WIN", because borders of balance and meta completly tailored for "no-life" procentile, who have time to outfarm, outcraft and outtrade game content to absurd levels of powercreep. I agree with OP but i see it as a good thing. Normal HC is dead, Std is close to dead, only temp leagues are left. People will play 3.0 but my guess is it will fade quick.
Which brings us to PoE 2. I see it as only solution, i am sure they can pull it. I am sure they have learned from all the mistakes they made. |

" We've been having those "guesses" from the start, and the population kept increasing nonetheless, don't worry. And no, standard isn't dead, according to GGG 25% of the player base is there. SSF is not and will never be a standard for balance, it is not for people entitled to getting more without trading.
