well, the filters are basically pushing farther an already existing effect.
I agree that it does not do the game good, however the root cause is the balance, and that's where it should be improved imo (regarding this problem)

It's somewhat true considering enchantments (many hubris, some devotos, rat's nests, starkonjas, then not too much else).

But there's still more than enough basic gear for all builds.

On a side node, with all the whining about "life < ES", I was really hoping to snipe some sexy life gear for dumpster prices this league. Not happening, people still want multiple exalts for their sexy tri-res life movespeed boots etc.

And Warchief is still the most used skill in both SSF and trade leagues.

well.. most of these are ~month old. that is - picked up when stuff was selling. and remain unsold

then - there are lots of new players who will pick up and ID everything in vain hope that stuff like that will sell (not)

(this is in standard, but you get the idea. my legacy one is somewhere in the stash

AR/EV shields are mostly to be used with %defences from equipped shields. you pick one with the non-main stat + life

in this case i look for a T0 AR, life, %ar/ev + res + chaos + chance to block (on a high %block base shield ofc)

stuff like this is rare enough. given that most players do not pick shields AT ALL i have a slim chance seeing stuff like this (note - last time i checked was more than one week ago. after that i shelved the character and move on to something more accessible and cheaper to build


entire gear for this character was cheaper than a decently rolled Varunastra (and i have one already but just wanted a 310+ one)

talk about oversaturation of meta-gear. esp when you settle for 'good enough'. 950ES chests are expensive but 750 ones are dirt cheap and are perfectly satisfactory

If you're mostly scaling armour on your shield, just use an armour shield?

700+ ES 6L starts at 280 chaos.
White bases start at 100 chaos (with shit ilvl, quickly rises to 200+).
Picked my white base up for 35 chaos:

ES chests are mostly used with gem-level based builds and there is an unique for that:


for that you need an ES shield (that is actually realistic as a self-craft. or cheap to buy if you settle for something 'okish') and a hubris. ES helmet that is so-over-populated that it is impossible to not find yourself a deal. with plethora of enchant options to boot

these with some dumpster-class additions gives you easily 8k ES. IE - enough to facetank minotaur's slam. why bother with anything else? life builds need to stack layers and layers of miracles to achieve the same level of 'lol wut' survivability



why EV on a shield? because i find EV to be pretty good companion with AR. i do not like one-dimensional setups. that Ash shield.. never liked it tbh. have 2 somewhere in my stash but when building my Jugg it somehow didnt want to stick. the character himself could farm T15 as long as i didnt encounter 'colours spam' (that is - spells, elemental) but was not suited for anything else sadly

oh and why you can find 80ex life boots? because noone stops people from setting these idiotic prices :) im selling quite a few garbage items for exalts. just because i can.. will i sell them? no way. 80ex for a pair of life boots? not to mention that there are just 15 pairs of 110+ total res (20+ MS, 70+ life). most of them on INT bases:D

Initial balancing of ES gear scaling was wrong from GGG - too high.

If ES numbers was like 5 k (okay) to 7 (good) and 10 (super high end/max/mirror bla bla bla), it will be whole another story with diversity.

But now its too late, if GGG "nerf" ES somehow (effective way, not cosmetic), they will be eaten alive by all this people how enjoy their lovely gear and playstyle. No way GGG undertake such risk to anger so large crowd.

But there is the bigger problem with it. If most players will use strict loot filters and ignore armour/evasion pieces, non-crit weapons, staves, etc. - then game will be pushed even more into small amount of OP meta builds, because non-meta ones will struggle with obtaining good items for their build (cause no one picks them up). I have a feelin You dont know how exackly strict filter works. Have You used it? Because first time i used normal and there was so much garbage. But i was afraid to use semi-strict or strict. But recently i used strict and it turns out i find plenty items with evasion but with high value. Im not talking about prices im talking about potential usefulness. I sell them all because they are useless to me but armor, life, evasion, etc. i still find them. I dont see 8 squares chrome recipe items which saves space but i still from time to time see soe staff or sword.

I dont have any particuraly top tier gear and my ES is below 7k. But im still able to clean T9 maps and look for better.

I configure my item filter myself. I can set it to hide whatever items i want it to hide, and show whatever i want it to show. If i dont want to see non-ES shields at all, i wont see them, period. By "strict" i mean that it hides most stuff, except the "best" item bases.
If you use 3-rd party item filter, then you depend on its creator's prefferences. I prefer to be self-sufficient, you know....

That was maybe true around Ambush League, the last league I sold and bought 5L white bases for 1 ex and 6Ls for 14+ Ex. Those were the ancient times when a 6L was an ultimate goal.

Today, the price of 6L has almost nothing to do with the cost of actually fusing an item.
There's many more ways to obtain 6Ls since back then.

This means, what you're paying for, is the item base that is 6L.

That's why I sold a 6L Carcass Jack for 4 Ex within a couple minutes.
That's why even white Vaal Regalias are at ~3 Ex.

And that's why it took me 3 days to sell a white AR/EV hybrid base for 25 chaos (thought I already heavily underpriced, but nobody even asked me for this long, so it must have been about right). Throw a +100 life essence or 5-6 chaos on that thing, and you're good to go.

So I highly doubt ES builds are cheaper to gear than life, even with the market flooding with ES gear.
