Warning, Old Diablo Scam now in Path of Exile

Someone did that to me in Diablo 2 when I was trying to trade for an Oculus. I didn't get too mad though because he tricked me fair and square. It was my fault.

Same.

I remember a case when a guy wanted me to drop my HOTO on the ground, in town - so no telekinesis was possible. I thought what the hell, let's screw with him for a while and let him think that he can somehow pick it up.
Well turned out that the joke was on me, because immediately when I dropped the HOTO on the ground he used Iron Golem on it and thus I lost my precious HOTO :D
Oh man I was furious, in fact I quit D2 for 6 months because of that :P I would've never guessed that since he wasn't a necromancer, he was just using a ring which granted him Iron Golem... I knew you couldn't use IG on uniques but the thing that didn't come to my mind was that you could use IG on Runewords...
Ahhh those were the times... :)

LoL. Tell me about it... :P
Common sense...
I'm in an abusive relationship with life. It keeps beating the hell out of me and I'm too cowardly to leave it.

When you judge another, you do not define them, you define yourself
Honestly though, this isn't a new thing. In every single online game I've played with trading this is a common practice. You have to be really careful when trading. People are always trying this.
CPU: I5-6400 Memory: 16gb DDR3 1866 Videocard: Zotac GTX 1070ti 8gb Storage: Evo 860 512gb x 2
The blame the victim mentality in these games when it comes to trading scams is crazy.

YES you absolutely have to watch out keep your common sense and be wary. However you should also always be honest and forthright.

This whole idea of scamming the naive being somehow acceptable disgusted me back in D2 and it disgusts me now.

There are people in this world who genuinely can't tell when something is bogus and human psychology is vulnerable to persuasion tactics even if the person in question is very sharp. The idea it is okay to cultivate this culture of duplicity is a terrible one.

I know it is just a game but I am too old for this kind of chicken sh#t ripoff scam. OP thanks for doing the community a favor and reminding everyone this is happening.
You have to hover over the item before you can accept the trade, so anyone that gets scammed by this method is fucking stupid, and deserves to lose that item(s) anyway.
