Warning, Old Diablo Scam now in Path of Exile

Hey all,

Just wanted to give a friendly heads up to everyone that trades in this game, (which is the majority of us).

In diablo it was common for someone to attempt to trade something to someone that was said to be a different item then the item being traded. I am seeing this occur in POE.

Example: If you see someone spamming in trade chat he or she wants to trade his or hers GMP for an outrageously low price be weary. What the douche will typically do is show his GMP in the trade window, then close the trade window and come up with some moronic reason he or she did so. Once the window is opened again he or she will then place a LMP in place of the GMP and try and trade you.

Thankfully I am used to this scam from Diablo so the three times different people tried to pull this failed.

I understand there will be some individuals that will jump in and comment saying stupid things like, " Well you have to mouse over the item before you trade it so your fault bra! "

sometimes the excitement of getting an item for an outrageous low price can cause excitement to get the best of us... so don't hate.

Thanks for the heads-up OP, worth bearing in mind for sure.

In my days we had to throw items on the ground to trade hoping that the other player wasn't a giant douchebag... man I miss that...

I have Aspgers, and yeah, it's pretty funny.

Besides, OP you clearly have to mouse over an item before you can trade, if somebody actually is stupid enough to fall for this, THEY DESERVE IT.

I miss that about as much as I need a hole in my head. Which, depending on who you talk to, may mean I miss that a lot. Personally, I like my head with the current number of holes it has.

D2 classic should have schooled everyone in how to NOT be scammed.
