How to become rich in Path of Exile?

It really hurts when you invest precious time into a game for absolutely nothing. I really don't understand GGG that they destroy the time investments of their players this easy.

Play temp leagues, not Dumpster league. Then you never have to worry about this.

• Flip items. Play the market, buy low, sell high, corner the market on specific items. Since there is no AH or automatic trading functionality, this requires you to be online most of the time.
  
  
• Farm. Grind for specific items that sell well. Again, a lot of time investment, not only in time online but in repeating the same content over and over again until your eyes bleed. Most people make their big earnings in temporary leagues if they can grind faster and longer than most others (sounds pornographic, I know).
