GGG & Priorities
So I got chat muted for 24 hours just now for typing '.' in the chat window. And yes, the dot was in response to GGG spam clogging up my UI... and I'm now salty as hell.
Not just because I got muted. Not just because there's still no concrete and justifiable answer on why there still is no Linux version. Not because the wine run version performs like shit. Not because the game crashes after 4 hours of play claiming to run out of memory on a 32GB system. Not even because I die because the game is responding so poorly due to the above conditions. No it's because it's the same shit all the fucking time. The mod that banned me (Ethan; apparently a developer) did not bother to warn me and doesn't bother to dignify me with any form of a decent response. This while there are actual bots in chat taking up to 1/4th of the game screen deliberately obscuring the view of players. He handed me a 24h mute; if he does that with spambots as well he's going to be busy for a long time. And this seems to be what the heart of the problem is. Your system that spams the user with "PLEASE BUY FROM US" seems to be rock solid. You don't seem to tolerate users spamming away YOUR spam. You don't even warn for this, you straight up ban. Nevermind the fact that there is also a big ass button in the UI going like "BUY SHIT HERE" and the game being unplayable without the purchase of stashtabs basically demanding that players purchase at least something to make the game playable. But the reason to keep buying from the store isn't there. Heck, I cannot justify a purchase because the OS I use is not supported. The new content coming out has marginal improvements at best to the game mechanics. And the client seems to be going backwards in terms of stability and marginally forwards in terms of performance. Getting to a shrine in a map still renders the game unplayable, SRS is a problem and patches of burning ground still cause issues even for high end users. Apparently there is no business case for these things? Yet you seem to have a business case for half assed moderation and half assed development, especially when it comes down to the engine's progress compared to the time elapsed. Your game was released 3 years ago, you've had support from the community and still your engine seems infantile to what it should be. What do you expect from your community if you treat them like this? I'd love to support the game, I think in terms of creativity and concept it is awesome. I'm pretty sure most players here feel this way. But if you have your priorities set on spamming users and banning those that genuinely have had enough, this game is going to die. " I'm a Linux user, but I understand why GGG doesn't officially support a version on Linux, it would be costly for them, and probably not justified from a cost/profit perspective, especially given how well the game runs under wine. GGG does go out of their way to fix issues that prevent wine users from playing. Most of the issues you are seeing in terms of slow downs and crashes are probably due to a memory leak in the 32-bit video driver. The issue has nothing to do with POE or even Wine, I can get the same behavior by running any of the 32 bit glx test programs if I run it long enough. If I figure out a fix I will let you know, but I find restarting my client and wine every couple hours alienates the worst of the problem but is annoying. All I can say is that Im sorry you got a poor experience.
I had similar situations in the past, and every time this happen, I first tried to reason with the moderator, which of course was widely ignored by them. So now I just send a complain emails about the "poor moderation" presented in game. I also tend to inform the moderator that issue an unjustified mute ban, that I reported him for bad moderation. I know that I'm a fool thinking I will change anything, as they are all buddies there, probably laughing at the complain emails before deleting them without any response or actions, but it does make me feel a bit better. Well you can always got the other way, and just vend your rant on the moderator that mute you for really long time, for a very minor offence, but I think this may only lead to you getting a perma ban. Dont forget its a corporation so it works in these principles: Money > work buddies > work colleagues > other work employees >customers YES I support the game, NO I don't agree with many GGG decisions

I (high-end user obviously, MacBook Pro 13" running Windows, core i7 with amazing integrated Intel Iris 6100 graphics "card") do not have significant issues with burning ground. I just turn the settings down, problem solved.
Besides that, if you think running the game on Linux under Wine is bad, try running it under MacOS in any form. Good luck. MacOS is a much bigger market than Linux, btw. Remove Horticrafting station storage limit.

"They have given a concrete and justifiable answer on this. The expense doesn't justify the returns. It will cost more money to do this than they will receive in revenue from doing it. Guild Leader The Amazon Basin <BASIN>

Apart from that, I do think that GGG is getting pretty agressive with their microtransaction spam, and I do find it annoying.

" Which, considering the success of many other ports/projects that have entered Linux, is an invalid answer. Fear the army of dots:

" Did you perform a market analysis? Do you know how much it would cost to port? "We don't want to" is a good enough answer to be honest. I don't see why they have to defend their choice in the first place. There is no Mac OS version either. So what. I just installed a dual boot, problem solved. You can do the same for Linux if you want to. Remove Horticrafting station storage limit.
