Meh, not convinced. If surveillance from the orbit is on the table, it's almost the same than that option. I don't think the world followed because it's PC (sounds silly, in my opinion). Putin would have trolled everyone if that was the case (I don't think anyone wants religious wackos with nukes).

It seems clear that satellite surveillance is not equivalent, or on-site inspections wouldn't have been a sticking point at all. On site inspections involve sophisticated instruments that can detect certain trace elements, satellites really only tell you what you want to know after the fact.

But it can cover weird movements (specially if they know where every centrifugator is).

I am sad about news out of Nice and the truck that did so much damage..70+ kills in an instant ...it took Orlando shooter four hours to rack up 50 kills with a AK47..

I'm saddened that one person can destroy the lives of so many. Seems all you need is a key to a truck or car. My issue is the accessibility of obtaining a truck or car. It's extremely easy... For $30-70 you can leave a rental shop fully armed. With little training AND NO BACKGROUND CHECK.

Whether we ban Cars and truck, whether we decide to equip everyone with a with a car or truck... How do we avoid mass drivings? No one yet has a reasonable solution. What goes through a persons thought process to commit such horrors? This is why I'm not a psych major... It's never been a curiosity of mine of how humanity has evolved to be so unpredictable.

Here we go, a typical indoctrinated libtard saying "ban trucks" next. Why don't you ban everything on this planet. I could kill you with my bare hands, you wanna ban hands too? Stop being so fucking scared of everything.

Want to stop ISIS ? Show these kids with weapons we have a better ideas than them about what could be the world.
Start by stopping hating everyones / everything for any little frustration or different opinion.
Make your days better for you but also for everyone around you.
They are the opposite of that and they will probably suicide themselves if we show them how the world don't need them.

Massive surveillance / satellite / trucks control ? It would be giving them victory. They want you to live in fear and they are half on the way to be successful on that.

That's my opinion on how to fight them and stop this mess.
Hf :)

That is... remarkably delusional.

Their appeal is violence, adventure, and control. Three things that have driven the hearts of young men since forever. ISIS isn't going to fucking hug this one out, dude.

I've heard it argued, quite convincingly, that the reason we are having these troubles is that we don't have the stomach for actual, we took you the fuck over and now this country is ours, warfare. We do things in half-measures, and engage in this weird practice of nation/democracy-building.

See Japan/Germany. We beat the shit out of them, and stayed like we owned the joint, and we really did own the joint. Look where they are now.

See Iraq/Vietnam. Kindasorta took over, kindasorta owned it. Look how that turned out.

I'm a liberal, almost as liberal as they come. With that out of the way, here's the bottom line: beating ISIS* is going to take a war of WW2 magnitude, and a post-war effort of the same magnitude. That means millions of people dead, and trillions of dollars spent. None of this "bomb people and let the least insufferable group mop up" horseshit. Actual War.

You prepared for that?

Agree with Antee. I doubt I'm alone in feeling that the problem with World War III is that we should have declared it by now. Instead we're just turning the other cheek, repetitively, in the naive belief that eventually our enemies will just get bored or something.
When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted.

Antnee is exactly right. It's delusional to think that more welfare and appeasement will calm down a supremacist ideology. The effect will be exactly the opposite. Islamism is a fascist militant ideology, you dont stop it with hugs.

There's poor and uneducated people everywhere. Why aren't buddhists plowing trucks into random people? Why arent hindus blowing themselves up? Because its not a an economic issue, but an ideological one.

Disagree with all of you on Antee's side, though I'm not quite with Helio either. Everyone thinks of the future as a place that looks just like today, but with more powerful smartphones and VR porn. News flash: it's going to be a hell of a lot more than that, and it's gonna happen in the blink of an eye.

We have an unbelievable chance to win a war of ideas RIGHT NOW - a victory that will manifest itself when the young generations of the ME and SW/SE Asian and African countries grow up and hold power. Do you think young Pakistanis, I mean young, (pre teen - 18) like the idea of a religion and a culture that celebrates honor killings? (Qandeel Baloch). Do you think young Egyptians are going to have fond memories of the times when the Islamic leaders of their countries issue Fatwas on Pokemon Go?

NO! Of course not. The best thing we can do right now is to stop sabotaging our messages of liberty and equality with, as has been rightly pointed out, half-measure pseudo wars and political puppeteering.

But the answer isn't let's get on with WW3 already. WTF is wrong with you people? The youth of the world will choose Kardashians and Pokemon Go over the Quran and patriarchy. Assuming we can decouple western values from bombs, coups, and interventions.
