Great example of why free loot leagues need to go and the impact of Perandus.

Also to bring up the EXP, Mapping argument, its irrelevant. Anyone who plans on leveling into the upper 90's is going to do soo anyways, a few moments out of the map isnt going to make or break your leveling experience and if your intention is entirely leveling then you shouldnt be stopping for anything aside from specific rares and currency drops anyways, you ignore the majority of content when youre leveling quickly and care about your Exp per hour.

I've spent over an hour before hunting mother fucking Frost Priests in the Crypt with NO FINDINGS, I've had this prophecy at least 3 times, each time is at least 30 minutes wasted, it's mind numingly enraging.

I could have done several uberzaro runs or a few maps in that timeframe.

you still need to have the coins in hand. Pretty sure not everyone had the 5-7k coins readily in their inventory to buy so-called BiS uniques. You still had to farm for the coins or you'd be stuck at worst just Chaos Recipe jewelry.

I don't understand why they moved from the original challenge league design : a SC league with free candy and a HC league with added difficulty. Everyone could get what they wanted : a harder challenge or more free stuff. These new unified "challenge" leagues aren't challenging at all, Standard is actually harder than prophecy right now... I'm still playing it because fresh econ and all, but I'd love to get some difficulty back. Maybe GGG could consider keeping the same league but add a rotating mod on the hc version like onslaught/beyond, I don't know. But something has to be done.
Exactly, JeremiahLoh.

Although I was offered a few really top items at Cadiro, I'd have needed to RMT coins in order to make the purchase.

It wasn't the "free top tier unique-fest" for us casuals, as claimed by the no-life crowd.

I dont know how the reddit thread you reference is related to Perandus - Prophecy is just badly designed which the reddit post expresses.

I am lvl 84 and get that prophecy :

You will defeat Fidelitas while wielding Storm Cloud

Now I can buy a Storm Cloud and go to a lvl 61 area and kill Fidelitas and vendor the upgraded bow ( since the prophecy to vendor 5 trash uniques for an other trash unique is too rare to cover the flood of trash uniques ) or have to seal the prophecy and destroy it.

How hard would it have been to make prophecies be deletable for 1 coin ( Heck - one could even get a dark prophecy when he dismisses a certain amount of prophecies, that would have been fun posibly ). How hard would it have been to make unique item prophecies / prophecy chains unique ( only once per character / player ).

Who the heck at GGG thought that lvl 80+ players would enjoy having to go back to lvl 60 and lower zones for some trash uniques repeatetly.
Or having to go back to Act 4 town after almost every map...

Clearly this league was rushed and its quality suffered heavily. The concept was nice though. I have a feeling GGG has to rethink its schedules.

( If there werent MTX to acquire I would have stopped playing this league after 1 day to be honest - just because the league is so annoying - and despite the fact that there are dozens of normally expensive uniques freely available - quality > loot )
Its the balancing point. You dont have to do it, you can seal it and move on, or you can do it an move on.

The reason why Perandus was a failure and GGG acknowledged that it was a failure in the sense that the league was graciously over generous with its loot, is that there wasnt ANY form of balancing point.

You save coins, you reset zones, you get more coins and you farm for cadiro deals. People had T1's and league only items day one, including multiple day one Headhunters.

This league is essentially a second iteration of Perandus League, fixing everything wrong with Perandus League, which was the stupid amount of free loot with zero risk and investment.

Also, LOL.

1 Coin for deleting prophecies soo you can just farm up 6L, 36 Strongbox, etc all the powerful prophecies and ignore everything else. Do you people not understand what balancing is ?

I understand what you are saying about the economy and the good prophecies, and I agree.
But you are missing a point: it's not true that "you do them, or you seal them". The people are going to simply ignore the prophecies, playing the league without them active, and using silver coin only as currency to buy something from poetrade: this is the first time in 5 years that we see a full optional league. This means the league is a fail, it's not different than playing in standard really.

You can't have active 6 fated unique quest in the same time coz it is totally unfair, and there is no sense that the same fated unique quest trigger after you've done it the first time. I would add more different prophecies that can trigger in map, exactly like rats/frogs (i love this); this way, if you increase the quantity of prophecy and you make the prophecies possible to do while playing the maps, the league will be very fun and interesting, while making harder to get the best prophecies.

Also, for the sake of the balance, I would make the rare drop a random unique item instead of dropping a prefixed unique item: if I already know what item drops that quest, i will trigger it and leave the area (without wasting coins to seal them) if the unique is one of the useless one (99% of the case).

"challenge" leagues.
It would be interesting to see player retention if the next league is a pure challenge league but i doubt that will happen. I already called out in a previous post before Prophecy League that it would likely be similar to Perandus League, it was.

I wish they would do a pure challenge league at this point, it would be good for the community and especially good for the people whove been waiting for a good challenge.

Maybe I was running underleveled but I thought some of the prophecies had a mini-invasion feel. Like Kuduku's long lost cousin. He will rek u.

Then again people thought invasion was fake difficulty/challenging, so I dunno. But I liked the feel of a new random encounter with an uber enemy while leveling through prophecy.

Totally agree with you. But there are many prophecies that doesn't spawn in maps: maps is still the central endgame. And this causes the people to ignore those prophecies. I mean, look at brutus+kole on prison: everyone will trigger it, and then leave the area; if that prophecy could trigger in a map the people wouldn't skip it, coz there would be 2 unique monsters that could drop good.
Also. Fated prophecy unique are a pain in the ass. They should do something to make those prophecies not spawn so often.

Overall the idea is good.

Say whaaa? I was all like BRING IT U 2.

Why stop at one coin? Why not 0.5? Or 0.1? 10 seals for 1 coin and the 11th is free?

Hell why do the prophecies cost 1 coin? Why not 7 for 1?

p.s. Relative nature of frames of reference

Theres nothing inherently wrong with having to go to a lower level area as a design.

If you're willing to argue that backtracking is a bad game design in general, you won't win that argument, as there are dozens and dozens of games that successfully implemented backtracking, and far more backtracking than you'll ever have in PoE.

the way prophecy handles backtracking is awful. "in general" backtracking is fine, as long as it's done properly, but when i get bubbling gold for the nth time i just cuss deep inside me.

prophecy's backtracking is tedium for the sake of rng. don't try to make it seem otherwise.
