Ahh ok, just managed to pick up a 750 es chest, at 7100 es now with capped resists :)

"Pyre converts the cold damage to fire and adds a lot of offensive and defensive power (see Build Theory). It's also very nice for capping resists." "The initial cold damage is converted to fire. another point about pyre besides the double dipping is that dealing fire damage means that arctic armour helps with reflect.
