2.4 and the CoC nerf - what to expect ?
|
Valid arguments regarding the current state.
But what about future skills that gonna be released? CoC currently have to be kept in mind for every spell that is designed. This limits the possibilities for new spell design. A similar reason was given when summoners were nerfed way back in (was it the masters league?). Future summoning items/spells could not be created before tuning down summoners. Same applies for CoC. |

What about future skills? It's not only CoC that has to be taken into consideration, it's all game items, skills and mechanics. That's why they sometimes allow overpowered interactions in the game - it's just too much to think of everything.
We'll worry about it when and if it happens. You have to be realistic about these things.

" From the experience i made with GGG's decision making this is not their way of thinking. |

I'm speaking about the players. I don't presume to know or try to predict what GGG are thinking. They also have mechanics to easily block a spell from CoC builds if they think it will be too powerful - channeling, multiple support gem requirements. Honestly, you are worrying too much.
You linked 6 different builds in the 'what's currently OP' thread and just one of it was a CoC discharge. It also seems like the least powerful of them all. I'm getting tired of this pointless thread so I'll just say in conclusion that IMO CoC is in a good place right now and leave it at that. If GGG decides it needs nerfing, that's fine by me. I'll be surprised but I won't cry about it. You have to be realistic about these things. Logen Ninefingers Last edited by Bars#2689 on May 13, 2016, 10:49:42 AM

I dunno. I've played so many versions of COC and I don't think it's OP. It's just different. It's no more OP then other builds one-shotting things lol.
I saw someone suggested to lower the damage of linked spells...FYI that would make it so that lag would be worse in parties because COC would have to trigger 100x more times to kill something...so your fix may make the damage lower...but also screws party play. On another note, the only way you can really "fix CoC" (not that I think it is broken comparitavely) is by increasing the cooldown AND increasing the damage of supported gems. That way you cast (for example) every .75 or 1 second...but the damage is bigger so you aren't forced to trigger over and over. This "fix" however would still effectively kill the skill since "big instant spell damage" = instarip on reflect mobs. Personally I like it the way it is. I just make a conscious effort to always have a backup/second build to group with so that I don't lag out other people's machines. CoC is really fun and trigger spells are super interesting. Whatever they do, I hope they don't gut the skill completely like they have done others in the past. That would just make a lot of players sad for no good reason...since COC is NOT the most OP build in the game by far. Last edited by Prizy#1622 on May 13, 2016, 11:39:24 AM

I really find it funny people think they have a say what is going to get nerfed or not and whether it is justified or not.
In my personal opinion it is going to get nerfed either directly or indirectly (Discharge not being able to be supported by trigger gems for example). [2.2] The Vampire - Tanky 2H Axe Slayer Duelist - /view-thread/1611662

"Lol ? Since when hasnt it been ? Throw in a few spells with CoC and get a few hundred thousand DPS. How is that even remotely balanced ? Thats like saying old Wrath+Anger Elemental Spectral Throw which was even higher DPS was balanced. COC is going to get nerfed as it should be. The most likely nerf is going to be something like Spells have 50% reduced damage. Harvest sucks! But look at my decked out gear two weeks in! Labyrinth salt farm miner. " That would be a good course of action. We have people saying that only Discharge CoC is abnormally powerful and the rest is fine. I say good, make Discharge a self-cast only spell and there you go - problem solved. Self-cast Discharge isn't very popular at the moment, if the trigger interaction gets the boot maybe it can be improved in some way, you know, get an interesting threshold jewel, a dedicated unique or something else that would be too powerful right now. Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs. ◄[www.moddb.com/mods/balancedux]► ◄[www.moddb.com/mods/one-vision1]► Last edited by raics#7540 on May 13, 2016, 5:57:25 PM
