I have a big problem with players who complain that the game is not challenging anymore. Interestingly enough those are usually also the ones who can't come with their own ideas and only play and experience the game through the mainstream op meta build of the moment that they just copy past.

There are always ways to make something more challenging.

Actually no I come with lots of builds including 3L 1 alc weapon builds that rock until 14 maps.

Game is too easy. (With trading and power gaming internet informs ppl of)

All Aoe spells and range needs about a 65% DPS nerf so monsters have a chance. Leech would be lower, monster actually get shots off and game would be harder.

Fixes almost every issue including "CoC", traps, mines, BV, and other A-move one shot gameplay.

In discussions on GenChat, I've never seen anyone complain about CoC gem as much as the complaints about Crit itself, and it's mostly about how crit feels so necessary to tackle the hardest content. Basically, the devs have 2 options:

1. Nerf crit in some way (maybe cap it?)
2. Buff non-crit builds so they can compete with crit builds.

I've seen non-crit RT-based builds clear hard content, a crit build will just do it 100,000,000 times faster.

Case in point: Crit, while technically not necessary, is definitely way too handy, and needs to be balanced somehow. I've noticed it as well.

Just add Internal Cooldown on that sucker, something like half a second so it will never be used again :)

A way to do this would be to make it a channeling spell with a 0.1 or so second channel time.

This has most likely happened anyhow. (a shame there is no future 2 in english, this would have been a beautiful sentence)

Fact: We know several spells have been reworked to a new channel mechanic

Fact: There are a handful of spells that are way too powerful on triggers and mines/traps since several iterations of the game.

So why not get the easy way out, solve it in one fell swoop. On top of that, those spells are probably suited rather well as channels anyhow.

So, i doubt we'll see direct changes to CoC, other than a few spells that dont work with it anymore. (to the dismay of the community, i am sure)
In my opinion this "nerf" is a joke. I feel like that change was not supposed to be a balance change but a performance improve.

As people said, there are dozens of other nice ways for balancing it, like just adjust spells or even CoC mechanics to like:
10% less dmg for each linked spell.

Gearing CoC was kinda expensive until ascendencys came. Assassin does make it too ez to optain high crit chance. Is that a reason for such a change ?

Just tested it my CoC combo(Barrage+added chaos+ice spear+essence drain+CoC) with 31.25 and 33.15 crit chance wand barrage with 80% projectile pierce still works as well as before or better.
2.4 Uber Atziri Kill with Tanky Twirl CoC.

3 Deaths, 2 of them just my bad play at Trio.

Actually the changes to trigger gems were done as a performance improvement mainly as it says "The performance and gameplay consequences of this extreme skill spam have finally justified a redesign of how some trigger gems work." on the post.
