chris didnt say anything about removing it, he just said he wont spend development time furthering pvp when theres so little interest in it. Theyve probably spent as much time on pvp as they have the map system, which one do you think is a more popular activity? I think what he said was basically obvious at this point, it would be insane for him to have a different take on it.

Its not the end for pvp in poe, but its going to need to show a lot more interest before it deserves further significant development time is what theyre saying.

People did not leave the game for Dota, maybe Greendude the only pvp players GGG contacted did?

The problem is Chris invited Greendude who is a LLD/temp players. Most pvpers are standard HLD players.

GGG have no idea about who and where people play pvp.

Well anyway since this last talk from chris people are really leaving pvp now, but not for dota. People are going to other arpg like devilian even if it is shit.



People have been organizing tournaments on the forum? Great, why havent I heard about them? Where are the streams, the videos, the community talking about it? where is it? Why hasnt it grown? If any meaningful amount of players care about pvp and you guys have put in a meaningful effort to get it together, promote it and build it up then why is the player base at large essentially unaware of it? The fact we dont know is the point, that says it all. I dont care about ladder pushing, I know who HvR and Etup are though.

Hes not saying pvp players left PoE for Dota, hes saying the reason you dont have 100,000 players who care about pvp and make sure any big event in pvp is headline news is because they play other games that are actually good for pvp playing, they didnt leave for other games, they were never here. People are aware of the podcast, the ssf challenge, the big streamers, the ladder pushers, the racers, these things get talked about around town because a lot of players have at least a passing interest.


I would love pvp to be a big thing, I have 0 interest in playing it but it would create a market to sell gear to. Im not hating on it, but you are kidding yourselves if you think enough people care about it to justify spending dev time on it instead of the things most players care about. I care about the player animations and artwork, when the devs turn around and say its not a priority Ive got to be realistic and accept that.

I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)

few tournament we did with videos(thks huntworld,Monstacookie ) with PRIZES people were doing with their own currency as rewards.

Why you did not know about it? BECAUSE SADLY PVP FEEDBACK AND DISCUSSION IS IN GARBAGE PART OF FORUM ( I mean by this all down) AND NONE GO THERE TO LOOK WHAT S GOING ON :( :( :(

Btw there was a time when ZiggyD made few video with puncture pvp build and he had some fun. Sadly it was also showing how badly balanced some skills (bow+puncture) were.

Balance skills in pvp HLD and more people will play.

I think it's a smart call by Chris.

PvP works much better when everybody has a level playing field. Exping up and gearing up is way too long of a process in an ARPG for it to work fairly. At best there's LLD, but that cuts out so much of the game content that it defeats the purpose.

If you're sticking around for the PVP, Chris just gave you permission- quit now.
PVP balance should be outsourced to the community. If you people desire it so much, it shouldn't be a problem. It has big opportunity costs for GGG and it doesn't have any guarantee.

And that's just one topic on the dozens we wrote about balance in pvp on top of PMs to Devs but NOTHING as been done since more than a year.

Seriously the only thing we do want is some balance patch from time to time (idealy at the end of each league with the pve balances), we'll do everything else by ourself but you can't build a house with a set of broken tools.

I can't believe that changing a bunch of value pvp values (yes PvP not PvE, those are independent so it doesn't affect everyone else) would take a lot of time and ressources.

Updated the OP. Thanks for the discussion everyone.
It's really simple to be honest, all they need to do is the basic first.

Once they implement big pve content giving huge damage boosts, fix pvp values ( damage algorithm directed to players from used skills )

As an exemple: Spark has become overpowered since inquisitor introduction and probably other skills too, they cant change how many projectiles fly around due to it affecting PVE. They can certainly however tweak the damage calculation when directed to players to tone down the upscale in damage it received trought 100% resistance penetration. It will certainly help into fixing the problem and keeping the playerbase active on pvp.

Such thing has to be done to a fair amount of skills monthly to keep things remotely balanced, pvp isnt in a so unbalanced state as what everyone is thinkink. First of all you need to theorycraft a build that is capable of putting a challenge against ALL builds. For exemple you cannot build a pvp build with only 75 resist, you need overcap, you need a minimum of 50 chaos res or you get rekt by chaos. You need dispel potions on you all the time, counter items, swaps, tactics and quick reaction time when you realize you face a different opponent than the earlier match. It requires a lot of micro despite what people think.

If GGG keeps algorithms up to date the playerbase pvp community will remain happy and THEN you can add new content over time to it and it will eventually grow. Ofcourse if pvp remains on an outdated base reguarding algorithms people are going to complain and wont play it. And it certainly wont affect pve developpment by just only tweaking the damage calculations in pvp...
