Hardcore POE: Paying for boss kills

Why do people who play HC pay other people to kill bosses for them? Why are you even playing HC if you want to cheese it by having some over-leveled and over-geared player fight the fights that pose the most risk? If you are afraid to lose your character, why are you in hardcore? Just to say you play hardcore?

I see this all day long in global when I am on my HC chars...makes me laugh.

Why do they use log out macros, why do they use portal tricks in boss fights, why do they farm white maps...image.

So that they can claim superiority to SC players of course

The only difference is when a high level HC player dies they lose a week of play time, while when a high level SC player dies they lose a day worth of XP

I don't normally play hardcore, but I would guess the reason is the uneven difficulty curve. There is a big difficulty spike in Act 4 and from there it's not that difficult again until like Act 3 of the next difficulty. So you're stuck overleveling in lower content just to get past one boss so you can go back to leveling naturally afterward.

The reason is nobody cares. People play here only because it have word "hardcore" in name.
In the less pretentious games it's called mode with one life.

Another thread that turns into a "hardcore is not hardcore because logout scripts, less risk taking character not deleted so lame!" fest.

Cant you guys just let it rest? We dont constantly piss on you for playing standard either. (obviously except some clowns that say they are hardcore players every opportunity they have, just ignore them.)


@OP I dont quite understand people who buy bosskills either, that said there are some builds that do much worse with some bosses than others. Melee evasion and the a4 bosses are as unfun as it gets, for instance.

I remember paying for a Dom kill back in Invasion.
10 seconds later Spinesnap kills me in Twilight Strand by the waypoint.
