I am a scammer - Account locked?

"
Its bullshit, and you only can get banned if enough shit is stirred up on reddit.

There have been plenty of reports sent out because of people rmitng, cheating, all reports made with solid proof, that would require someone just to glance over it to be 100% sure.

But nope, no bans. But oh boy, if you get a reddit witchunt thread sicced on you, you are pretty much a goner and GGG will ban you even if innocent to please the masses. The forum bug report is a joke as well. Bugs that get posted on reddit get fixed in hours, while issues on the forums rot away.

Lets stay on topic its amazing this thread has managed too so far <3

I dont think GGG make hasty decisions to be honest and regardless of what happens to me at least we will have a firm indication of if this type of metagaming is allowed.Again if i felt at all in wasn't within the rules we wouldn't be here in the first place.

Quick edit : At a RL buddies house - playing POE we have just visited 5 peoples HO's from global/trade chat with cardio offers wanting fee upfront all running the honorwall scam.Clarification is needed sooner rather than later.

You sound like someone who has been scammed. I guess if fools fly, we would live an eternal night...

Scammers also poison the trust in honest traders.. just saying.
Undefined period of meta account-locking towards the incidents occurred by a scammer-meta player. Well played by support team.
Everything I do should be wrong so please correct me if I do it right <3

We can't comment on specific players or instances that have happened previously. The accounts team does however look into accusations of scamming. My post was made in regards to people wanting to know if they or other people can get banned if they engage in scamming.

please point me to the tos entry for scamming and the consequences for players. to follow rules i need to have them written down there somewhere.

thanks.

The argument you will get here is you dont need rules to know your not a douche.
My counter to this is all the research of scamming within the game led me to the conclusion that although frowned upon by people with more of a moral personality It was allowed/tolerated with some instances of known scammers having name changes to avoid witchhunts.

It should be a simple answer.Yes its cutthroat game and if you trade without an item in return in your trade window your to blame for falling for such an obvious ruse.Or no its not ok and you will recieve punishment.

Im ok with both these stances - I'll just roll a new account if perma banned and metagame within the rules to get ahead of the curve (See overpricing/gougin others with fake poeprices that youll never sell at said price/RIPing HC newbs to bandits so long as these are all within the constraints of the game)

i think ggg just opened pandoras box. photoshop helps.

they provide no ingame mechanics for "ingame services", the only way to make sure you get paid for a "service" is the hope of the other player being honest.

the other method is to request some equal ingame item as insurance the other player is not ripping you off.

it's always been that way. ggg never said otherwise.

while we are at it: gary, do you also return items from account hacks now? i mean, they all have a unique id and can be backtracked. you punish those players involved in trading these items away? "concealment of stolen goods" isn't anywhere in your terms of service but since you apply real life morals now??

do i get punished if i place less orbs into the trading window as requested?

do i put myself in danger if i use a "ingame service" of another player who blackmails me afterwards for paying more or report me to support?

age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!

Well ggg can do what they want it's their servers, i guess if you were banned maybe you scammed the wrong persons, or maybe you simply scammed "too much" people...

Because scamming is really lying and stealing, it's not just basic item flipping, you are a step ahead in destroying the game.

After that it's easy to troll out arround the 'subject' arguing theres no clear rules about "scamming"

Item flipping is part of the trade and you can't have normal trading without it. You shouldn't place it in the same category as scamming as it isn't. Now, there are some instances of scumbaggery where people intentionally misinform new players to get sweeter deals, but that's different. If someone just tries to buy cheap and sell expensive, that's capitalism in a nutshell for you.
You have to be realistic about these things.

I've been a moderator on some forum way back in 2006. Back then, I had to deal with people who tried to find everything the rules would allow, but would still annoy/hurt other members on the forum. I usually warned them, and if they continued, banned them. And of course, they always complained afterwards. "It's within the rules!"

Yes. It is allowed according to the rules. But be reasonable. Do you think it should be allowed? Scamming isn't easier on newer players, so if it really becomes common knowledge it's allowed, those people will the target of many scammers. This will only alienate that playerbase from the rest of the game, or just make them just leave the game with a bad aftertaste in their mouth. This is just unhealthy for the game. And it's not just the newer players, even experienced players will be hesitant to trade etc. And the community of the game would just get a bad name, with allowing hackers, scammers, bots(people always exaggerate once they dislike something).

I mean, even if they would add the line "Scamming is not allowed" in the rules section. How would people know what is allowed and what is not? Yes, it's scamming if you don't deliver on your promise. But is it also scamming if you buy items way chaeper then they are from beginners, and then sell it for way higher? Some will say yes, others will say it's a clever bussiness trick. And what if you sold something for way lower, without you realizing, will that make the other person a scammer if he resells it for much higher? The moment GGG puts in this rule, people will start to look for more holes in this rule. Maybe they just want to get someone banned by this rule, because they just dislike the person or w/e.

I don't see the rules as the holy grail, since they are set up by people like us. Setting up perfect rules, without dedicating way too much time to it, is not something you can expect from any of us. You should see rules more as a guideline. Mix in some common sense, and you'll know everything you need to know.

Scamming is, and should not, be ever allowed in any game. Not if that game wants to stay healthy and wants to keep growing.

And support taking time to respond to you? You're not the only one. I had a bug ingame that was kinda bothering me. I mailed them once, and then just waited. Think I got a reaction a couple of days later. The new league has started, and the game is bigger then it's ever been. I'm not surprised they are busy. Be a bit more mindful of their situation as well.

Welp, just my two cents.

I don't think I would be in minority that thought it was permissible though.

Cycling through twitch channels asking the streamers if they realized it was illegal to do so - none so far as of yet.

POE was always portrayed as a HC environment where your shit could get fucked up including scamming.

Again i'm not trying to diminish any responsibility for my actions - i'm quite fine with playing the douche for a day in a videogame - but the simple question as to if its allowed or not still hasn't been answered.

If i was in the wrong, I am happy to reroll as stated before - And finally everyone will know GGG's stance on the matter.
