I am a scammer - Account locked?

Oh man this thread has legs.

First off some really interesting points re Rep and other things.

Firstly the idea that having a website for cross referencing a players rep would put a stop to scammers is a fallacy.I ran a semi elaborate IPO scam on EvE and when it was all said and done my toons name was plastered over the forums as to what I did and how I scammed people from there investments.

2 months later to pretty much to the day I started almost exactly the same scam with almost the exact same angle and even though forum checks would have confirmed to my marks I wasn't legit I still found marks to rip off.

Since being back in game I have public grouped and traded through global channels and I haven't been called out once.

To get scammed you need to be naive and motivated mostly by greed, these people are everywhere In games revolving around trading and believe me they wont check out of game resources before jumping into bed and doing deals with shady assholes.

The easiest way to stop scammers is educating the player base.

Loading screen tip : Wraeclast is a unforgiving place,Dont trust other exiles to hold their promises.

I put it to you the reason why I had such great results during my little run was totally down to other peoples greed in wanting to buy an insanely cheap deal to flip on the market for profit (Many marks told me they were checking POEtrade before agreeing to my fee)

CCP tried this. Eventually, one of their higher-ups responded with something along the lines of "We won't publicize the details because people will skate on the line while not crossing it, effectively evading the consequences as closely as possible". I would rather not have to deal with that here.

I can assure you CCP did no such thing.Scamming is allowed and expected in EvE fully.There has been 1 or two occasions of scamming whilst also exploiting mechanics that shouldn't have been explotiable where there has been repercussions but otherwise everything is fair game and you learn that during the new player experience on day 1.

I do totally agree that GGG's lack of definitive stance doesn't help anyone including the support team that have to go through reports of said activities.
