Izaro - Is he overtuned?

Having to be overleveled by 10 levels or so just to kill him means he is definitely overtuned. The fact of the matter is that GGG would need to employ a function that the MMORPGs use whereby entering a large boss fight with dozens or 100s of players of all levels so that the super high level players don't have a major advantage they are temporarily (for the specific boss fight only) level capped down to a lower level. GGG would need to implement a boss fight exile level cap to get a much better balance and thus not need to give him level 43 damage values even though the map is level 33 (normal Lab). That pretty much would be needed for all map or end of zone boss fights so that we can't just outlevel that boss by 10 or more levels and just face roll him/it.

Necessity may be the mother of invention, but poor QoP in PoE is the father of frustration.

The perfect solution to fix Trade Chat:

The problem with level-capping is it is very hard to squeeze it into poe game system where most damage/defense comes not from char levels but from leveled skills, supports and gear.
e: I agree this would be great if there was even a chance to do it right, but see above.
And worst change is putting almost all bosses in new version of maps into fucking small areas, where you can't kite well or dodge stuff. What a terrible idiot invented that I want say to him: dude flick you, seriously flick you very much.

FIX SIGNATURE IMAGING
Merc is way harder than Normal or Cruel was that is for sure. A slight nerf would not hurt at all but not too much as it IS Merc after all.
I think the nerfed version for normal is fine as it is. I didn't attempt it until level 41 yesterday, but all he could do is take away my es for the spike damage. Didn't need any life flask, was using the mana flask and quicksilver's to run past Izaro while avoiding traps.

I was using fire traps (197 dot with 200-300 explosion damage) as offense, occasionally a few arc and constant elemental weakness to boost my dps.

Defense is 1.5k life, 700~800 ish armor, 800 es (w/ discipline), arctic armour and chaos golem.

I made sure to have more than enough hp to do Izaro because I am playing hardcore. But throughout the fight, Izaro only spiked me once in a while, and at most remove all of my energy shield which quickly regernated. The main catch for the fight is to bring some good dot damage so you can focus on dodging, there are plenty of spaces to run around avoiding both traps and projectiles.

Dodging while dealing consistent damage should be the focus of this fight. I think the issuse with most people is that they relied on tooltip dps, which is only correct if you are able to be constantly attacking the boss.

In my oponion, the traps are more dangerous. I had to run through blade traps with darts shooting at me with no safe spots in between, ran along side with a blade trap accidently and almost cost me my life.

Oh come on I beat him to death with a spork and a bag of chicken feed. he is not hard to go up against. Just that there is a lot of random crap going on and the screen fills with effects and half the time you can't actually see what is going on depending on how you fight and move around. The final fight at the end of the lab is kind of dull because it is like: "ok there is a trap there and a trap there. oh Izaro is coming in hot ok i will stand here for 1 second attack, manually dodge trap, manually dodge Izaro and now he is dead...yeah...i can ascend..."

A few things:

1. Izaro doesn't perform a lot of his most dangerous attacks if he's close to you.

I can confirm this. Izaro 1 shot me only from distance (3k HP, capped res, 1.8k AR with Unwavering Stance in cruel)

Wow 3k hp in cruel and still 1 shot. Lol I had 2k and 0 armor, lol, when I fought him. Good think I'm upclose huh. He did almost 1 shot me with his ground pound aoe slam though.

Well, I got a crit kinetic blast evasion build. Currently I'm level 71 with 3.5k hp (of course, still working on it), full res, 55% evade + 30% dodge, running maps fast as hell and generally merciless is a joke with this build like the low tier maps so far, but still I was not able to finish the lab in cruel while Izaro one-shots me even when he is not enhanced!

1-shotting in cruel with 3,5k HP...ran the lab 4 times in cruel, was one-shotted every time...the lab itself is totally easy and Argus is some kind of challenge while tanky as hell but at least, he never was able to kill me. It's getting annoying to run the whole lab to be ones-shotted every time. Never had this before. Malachai in merc is joke so far, comparing with Izaro.

I can relate. I also have a crit KB evasion build, only like 3.1k life though. My single target DPS back then was something as shitty as like 10k (hadn't bothered with links and stuff for Frenzy yet).
I managed to beat merc Izaro after 3-4 attempts.
All I can tell you is try to off-screen him - pretty much the whole fight I was off-screen, blasting him. It took forever but it can be done this way. Luckily he was buffed with portals so it helped for KB having more skeletons around him. His sword-pulse attack was a definitive KO.
Try not having a golem out, or the golem will trigger Izaro's sword-pulse. He won't use it as long as you don't get close to him.
the problem with izaro:
its more like a gearcheck rather than a "challange"

imo you can compare izaro with atziri to a certain degree but i think i was level 80ish (dodge evasion trapper 3,5k hp) and he still oneshotted me...

BUT atziri is a total optional content!
izaro is kind of mandatory, because if you dont kill him you have disadvantage compared to other players...

So far I leveled a Shadow Dodge Ice Trapper and a Duelist Armor Cleave character to 80+.
The Shadow was a living hell and the Duellist was a bad joke.
I facetanked Izaro on merc with my Duellist like its nothing but he still took like 2/3 of my life with one attack... EDIT: BTW my DW Duellist is a 50%+ blocker!
Armor got a HUGE advantage vs izaro compared to dodge builds imo.

Another factor that I would like to mention is that the Lab should be involved into the whole "leveling" process and shouldnt be apart of "endgame" we got maps and (uber)atziri for that...

So, I was just wondering about the elemental golem. I attempted cruel Lab yesterday and on the second fight that was the mechanic, I had the relicary thing so I one shoted the first golem.
The problem arose on the second golem. I'm melee poison, but don't do terrible damage ( im more of a tank with 4.5k ehp at lvl 56) so try as i might I never managed to kill the second golem before izzy got it, especialy since he just jumped on me and absorbed it almost instantly.

I tried to use golem(stone) and totem to keep izzy buzy, but he dosnt like them very much. So how do low-damage melee build manage to disable that? (he only got 1 elemental golem because he ran off after, but it seem it was enought to 1-shot me in last fight.)
