Its been interesting to See your responses and reactions to the post i published here (moved to the button of this thread now) I've read your Suggestions with much delight and enthusiasm. Thx for that! and i want to give my own response to all of your reactions.
my critique about poes current trading system
The market we compete in here in the World of wraeclast is based on a frame that is out of Date since more then a couple of centuries! In Order to succeed in poes trade System there is only one variable that judges about success and loss. That variable is time Although there are other ways to compete (like coming up with good build ideas purchasing 80% of the build funding uniques and selling them with great Profit, thus ruling demand) The key to success is being online in game. Why? Because every transaction requires both participants to be present at the Same time and location. This reduces the efficiency of poes market by a great amount. In Times where it is completely normal for all of us to benefit from competition when it Comes to something as trivial as purchasing your daily food, i found it suprisig to See reactions like: "Efficiency is Bad for poe" Now, about 7 months ago i firstly realized the real weakness of this slow market. At that time i found myself runnig constantly about 20-40 atziri Sets per Day. In that time i have generated more then 50 catalysts a good amount of uber Sets not to mention the amount of belts and Boots and an occasional good unique or Rare. At that time i had the Most frequent amount of trade requests i ever got during my time at poe and for the First time, trading felt actually like a game breaking Interruption. I found myself discovering the use of /dnds and the Like because trading became an unwelcome Interruption of grinding where i had to stop my runs at least once if i where to react to all trade requests. So on top to poes market being a slow archaic moving construct, trading actually breaks your ingame Progression and forces you to interact with ppl in a way that cant be justified for the sake of socializing since it is Not welcome and i guess many ppl can subscripe that Statement. -You're participating in 78 rots -Trade request incoming -either stop what is actually really socializing (parties, build discussions, build improvements, chatting, etc.) Or Ignore customers and loose market Access And that is What really breaks The game fun imo. Unless you like to Stare hours at trade Chat, spend time to create parties with trade requests or the reason you play poe is for the sake of flipping items and currency, trade is interferring with ingame Progression in no good manner. And imo that simply needs a rework! One last Statement to it: Yes, reworking that current System Perhaps means a shift of item values and currency value. But as allways the market will fix itself, and in a long Term view i can only See an increase if currency value. History has proven that any society Profits from its currency getting stronger and i See no negative impact here. End of Statement
possible improvements
Possibilliy a) Create a System that allows offline trading to a limited extend. Surely a 100% automated on click transaction Solution is Bad. But Perhaps make it possible to allow a prompt based transaction System where i only need to be online at forum to agree to trade requests or perform counter offers and the Like. Possibilliy b) Create an ingame System where trade requests are listed as a popup window filled with Information on: Which item is requested? What is the offer? (in currency and or items) Add Buttons like "accept", "deny", "counter offer","busy, ill Come back to it asap" Perhaps its even possible to create a purchase window that you can acces ingame to Review possible trade requests so there is just an annotation ingame "you have a New trade request", which you can than acces in the manner you have Access to friend lists, Party lists and the Like. Keep the stash tab System! In Order to increase your Chance to sell something you still require the amount of stash tabs. Thus keeping GGG income by mtx untouched. In the long Term one could even Come up with smartphone apps, Rating Systems so players are rewarded for fair trades etc. But all of These changes cant be done with 3rd Party Services that ofc Dont have Access to the Client. I would really appreciate a Review of poes trading system that currently an in the past has never been attended to by devs themselves but instead ever only by 3rd Party Services. And since trading is such a fundamental game System it needs a big amount of love imo. Perhaps we can See some attention to it from GGG themselves. That would be really nice. Just some thoughts i am interested to share, Though i am aware that it is very unlikely to get any response from GGG here in this Terms. Still im tempted to test it and i would appreciate it to prove me wrong.
The big question that is taunting me ever since i started to play this game back early in 2013 is: why is GGG so madly focused on keeping the market the way it is? From the very Moment i started to play this game up to today there has Not been a Single change to the way this inchangable-and-inventionresistant market functions. Every Single transaction requieres a face to face trade between market shareholders from all over the World. One does Not have to study Business Management and the Like to understand that These archaic structures reduce the efficient cashflow ingame by a huge amount. Take real life jobs, families, school lessons, studies and the Like into count (not to mention different time Zones! ) and you allready have plenty of conditions that actually downgrade the poe trade efficiency by an amount that cant even really be put into numbers. Now the funny thing is, we are Not even talking about moving matter based objects, but rather database entries that can be captured as simple integer based zeros and ones. Now imagine a Bank Institute that would require both shareholders of any transaction to be present at the Same global time and location. That Business concept would be Dead before even started. The quantitude of ways modern markets arrange transactions cant even be counted and GGG makes use of it every Day a mtx is purchased via PayPal and the Like. Funnily, once it Comes to ingame trading, the more archaic the trade System the better it seems to be ... I removed my own Rating to this content as it Apparently prevents a proper conversation. To explain my own Ambitions: I really would like to See a reworked market, where i am able to put prices on things that can be traded without me being present and i Dont understand why this is such a Problem to implement. Alright fair enough, since you did that i will give you a proper answer.
I use the trade system alot in PoE. 1 thing that caught my eye was why do you care about people that are not online? I never bother with offline people on PoE.trade and i can always find what i'm looking for. It seems, especially later on in the league, some people are really focused on offline people, some might even be offline for weeks. But to spare abit of currency they wait for them? The trading in PoE work fine imo. Could it use improvement? Sure thing. But not as intensive as some people want. It does take a big investment of time and expertise to make it all work out. And like you said yourself, if you have a busy real life, then you would certainly be disadvanted vs no lifers etc. But that's how games work. I don't even understand why anyone would expect the same perks for playing 1h a day to someone playing 14h a day. You really don't think if you leave at 6 in the morning for work and put up a Pledge of hands for 3 exalts. It will have sold when you get back just like that? Even a like AH trading system requires attention. Because when you get undercut you will have no chance to sell anything till you come back online. Why do people think it will magically sell just because it's listed? Tips: Don't look at offline people. Invest some time into understanding the PoE market. Lower your expectations if you can't play that much. |

" I have no associations to a so called Auction house Though i often heard players speeking about it. Im just comparing different market philosophies and i cant understand why poe is build around such an archaic trade mechanic. The only thing im asking for is to implement a trade way that is 100% natural for every "on click" transaction that is used eg for mtx here. Im no newbie to this market and i have been able to achieve a (for me) small Fortune of about 400 exalts worth of currency and items over the last years. Why would it be so difficult to implement a trade System which works eg as: List an item with a price. That item can be bought for that listed price. You are then able to buy that item and hence some currency is removed from Player a and an item is removed from Player b. If that is exactly What an Action house looks like then Yes im probably asking for one. |

" Because they don't want trading to become too efficient, it's a way to slow down the economy and thus prolong its stability. Makes perfect sense when you think about it. GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

" I have problems finding any social aspects in poes trade System where 70+% of trade Chat is spammed by Lowballers, the well known currency Flippers and the Like and where Most parties in town are Made up by People that try to buy the "no1 flip items" like mjolner shav devo and the Like for 70% of market value or even less ... I understand that this game is heavily build around Player interaction but the current trade System is more likely to prevent then encourage that. At least in a good manner. About the not willing to have trades as efficient as possible. I can See some sense here. It would be awful in case of items becoming legacy to be Sold for half of its value Because of on click purchase if you fail to Adjust prices quickly. But Solutions can be found here as well. The social aspect i totaly fail to have unterstandig for. If that's the reason its poorly done. |

I have the very same oppinion as Xavderion!
trading would get too efficient, more good rares would be out there and more items overall. This is something GGG seems to not want and they'd have to re-balance the whole game around ppl having better gear overall. As for you Miská: i wouldn't call trading in this game "socializing". i always try to be nice to ppl i trade with (wishing a nice day or fun with the item) but only in very rare occassions there is comming more from the other guy than a "t4t" and the initial copy/paste message from poe.trade. and some don't even thank you at all. as for your comments so far i'm not even sure if you aren't a troll after all. you obviously don't have much experience with an auction house system (and yes: the one in D3 was a fail and was rightly removed. i don't count this as successful AH). OT: If i would love to see an AH in PoE? i honestly don't know. I don't think GGG would implement one anyway (unless hordes of players would suddenly start complaining). What i would like to see is some way so i can set pices for my items IN GAME! how ever you would want to implement it (trade tabs, right click, etc.). these items then get listed on the poe website. this does not necessarily have to be the forum it could also be a seperate trade section which would make it easier for parsers/indexers (like poe.trade) to acquire these items and show more accurate if the player is online in this league (or playing a race, being afk, etc.) i think this could be a way ggg could agree on.
