Australian Gateway Latency Issue
I might have a logical/technical explanation...
So, assuming the Australian Server is down, the auto-select feature chooses the next geographic location that is closest to your area, in Australia's case, its Singapore, the reason why Singapore isnt shown in the gateway DDB is purely because its "auto" and the australian server is down, so, technically, Singapore (auto) is our only option until GGG give us verification that they're fixing it. The Auto-Select will select the gateway with the lowest latency when you open the client.
I can confirm for you that none of the Aussie servers are down or have moved (as I saw someone else suggest). Please follow the instructions in this thread, and I will have a look into this for you: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1377789
" ![]() Essentially, I have had a 15ms consistent ping until about 48 hours ago when at best I now get 150ms ping. A separate issue I have seen over the past week is around our prime time (7-9pm GMT+10) the latency seems spike a great deal, on the first page you can see my ping was bouncing quite a lot between 150ms minimum to 1000ms. I am not sure if this has something to do with load but its possible. (Last night, pic from first page) ![]() Right now as I type the latency seems at a consistent 150ms (pic below) ![]() Id really really like to get my consistent 15ms ping back , this is one of the advantages I love about choosing to play a game with Australian servers. Let me know if I can provide more information , I work in the information technology industry. |------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | WinMTR statistics | | Host - % | Sent | Recv | Best | Avrg | Wrst | Last | |------------------------------------------------|------|------|------|------|------|------| | 10.93.0.1 - 0 | 214 | 214 | 6 | 9 | 77 | 7 | | meb4-ge2-1-9.gw.optusnet.com.au - 0 | 214 | 214 | 7 | 10 | 76 | 8 | | 59.154.57.216 - 0 | 214 | 214 | 7 | 10 | 83 | 9 | |Bundle-Ether11.lon-edge901.melbourne.telstra.net - 0 | 214 | 214 | 8 | 10 | 80 | 11 | |bundle-ether10.exi-core10.melbourne.telstra.net - 0 | 214 | 214 | 8 | 11 | 48 | 9 | |bundle-ether1.lon-edge902.melbourne.telstra.net - 0 | 214 | 214 | 8 | 10 | 81 | 10 | |bundle-ether2.win-edge902.melbourne.telstra.net - 0 | 214 | 214 | 8 | 11 | 79 | 12 | | sof1522605.lnk.telstra.net - 0 | 214 | 214 | 135 | 137 | 209 | 136 | | ae6.dar01.mel01.networklayer.com - 0 | 214 | 214 | 133 | 136 | 212 | 136 | | po1.fcr01a.mel01.networklayer.com - 0 | 214 | 214 | 134 | 137 | 199 | 136 | |168.1.82.196-static.reverse.softlayer.com - 0 | 214 | 214 | 134 | 137 | 213 | 137 | |________________________________________________|______|______|______|______|______|______| WinMTR v0.92 GPL V2 by Appnor MSP - Fully Managed Hosting & Cloud Provider Whatever army I have, I'll lead against them...

There is a problem between these two Telstra routers:
" Your average latency jumps from 11ms to 135ms on this hop. Unfortunately this is outside of our, and our server provider's control. I would suggest sending this info through to your ISP and ask them to escalate this to Telstra (their upstream provider in this case).
Well that's the hop directly before softlayer so im guessing everyone connecting is having the same issue or a large quantity of users. Generally I would have thought this is something softlayer could bring up with telstra , I just have a home internet account and ISP support for end users is pretty hopeless here in Australia especially when in this case its not an issue with my ISP and its with an upstream provider (telstra). Whatever army I have, I'll lead against them...

This is the second hop before SoftLayer, and outside of their control. I will ask them to see if they can do anything, but they will most-likely refer us back to a request to your ISP.
This will only affect those routed through Telstra. For example, it doesn't affect us here at the GGG offices. Edit: It looks like there may be something else wrong with the routing. I am expecting a response from our provider soon. I'll give you an update after I'm back from lunch. Last edited by Fitzy_GGG#0000 on Aug 5, 2015, 8:13:48 PM

Hi, just throwing my data into the mix in case it helps. I'm with Optus Cable in Sydney and this issue has been happening for the last two days.
http://pastebin.com/jzkhwBXz
Latency has been really poor for me every night for the last week or so until pretty late when it steadies out and returns to normal. However even then it spikes irregularly.
When there are no issues it's rock solid at 69ms (hell yeah) but basically during prime time its rarely below 120ms. Haven't been able to use predictive since about day 3 of the awakening. Thankfully predictive mode is a lot better than pre-2.0 but I'd still really love it if something could be done about this. I'm playing from Perth. |
