POE is already Pay to Win. What can/should GGG do?
hmm well we cant optain pets or alternate spell effects in any way without paying money, maybe they should make them tradeable and allow us to? or give atleast one in some sort of event, since making them tradeable would create a p2w with one spare link.
well not sure but make some way to be possible to obtain, maybe as a very rare bound to account drop
This is my first post as I like to lurk. But this one hit enough of a chord to get me out of lurk status.
If GGG starts selling things that will help you win (Orbs or weapons) it will mess up the in game economy. Flooding it with items that are rare. These pay to win sites are getting their items to sell by good old fashioned farming or by hacking accounts (Which is terrible) But what that means they are not messing up in game economy since the scarcity of the item still applies. I.E. The person who's account gets hacked did the farming to find their Orbs, meaning the 1 out of 100 (example not actual factor) chance to pick up an orb of chance was adhered to. If GGG made a shop then they would be creating items, therefore destroying the balance of the economy. IE 10 orbs of chance drop out of a possible 1000 times compared to 1 orb of chaos. If you can just buy orbs of chaos then the balance in the economy between the two is Fd up. This would just be the tip of the iceberg, because it would effect all items. |

" was about to say something simmilar.excellently formulated
I propose the whole world embraces communism and abolishes money.
And while we are at it we could also equalize everyone materially, so nobody is hungry and everyone has a PC. This sounds fair to me. |

" Yes, but what are you going to "win" ? As i sad, you can do it in D2, d3, WoW, Eq2, Rift.... name ANY game... hell even in BF3. you can pay... ether one way or another... to get "better" But... what do u win? this game is about farming times... add AH like in D3, and kill the game. yes, blizz get some for "selling" item form other users... but what fun is there in D3 today? If u ask me, let the cheaters cheat.... and let them kill the game for them self. i know i have more fun, when i find or trade for an items the real way. |

" I get your point, but the real money AH is exactly why myself (and a fair few of my friends) will never, ever play D3. As soon as success in a game is dependent on paying additional money for it, I pack up and leave. It stops being fun when it's just a measure of your wallet and not any kind of skill. At least cosmetic items are nothing but fun extras- and in no way needed to complete the game. I'm not a n00b- I'm a Online Game Floor Examination Expert.

" Blizzard did it because they wanted money. In any game you can always use real money to buy things, but doing so is hard and risky so not many people do it. Adding an in game way to do it makes it easy and accesible so many people do it. See the difference? |

" (I highlighted a section from your post) Actually this is not correct. These sites don't have to hack. The process works like this: Let's say I get some uber rare drop in POE and I want to earn some real money from it. I go to this site (let's call it SiteA) and trade it with someone on SiteA for SiteA currency like ForumGold. I now take this forum gold and convert it real money by one of several methods (for example using D3 AH). So now I have converted my POE drop into real money, SiteA has a POE item, which can be traded for POE currency by someone else using SiteA and then come to POE and trade for POE items. No hacking involved, just people trading on forums. |
