Fallout 4
" Close, but not exactly. The douches in the equation were Interplay for trying to put out a "Fallout Trilogy" when Beth launched FO3. The "Trilogy" included FO proper, FO2 and FO Tactics. It was confusing to noobs who thought FO3 was included. When they sold the IP to Beth there was a clause that they could produce a Fallout MMO by X years after the sale went through. Beth agreed, knowing full well the near defunct Interplay couldn't build an MMO in X years (FTR I believe it was 3). Beth never re-licensed anything back to Interplay. By the time Interplay had a barebones build of the MMO to show off the date had passed, Bethesda sued for breach of contract and won. The project was rebranded as V-13 and was forced back to the drawing table since all FO assets had to be scrapped and it then disappeared into development limbo never to be heard from again. The End. bethesda/their publisher (is it xenimax or something? I forget) can be a bit cut throat, the way things went with iD software and also whoever was making I think Prey 2? Whatever the fps with the american indians vs aliens was that had a semi open world sequel that sort of fell apart.
Honestly though I think iD were in decline anyway, its hard to tell exactly what went on behind closed doors but the new Wolfenstien looks a million times better than Raven softwares last attempt at the brand. Hard to tell if they burnt down iD software or simply saved their franchises from an existing fire, it did seem like iD fell slightly short with doom 3 and were on a downward slope. I loved doom 3 but where quake 3 was THE engine of its generation Crytek and Epic really stole the show with the next generation, and even Valve whos engine seemed like the least capable of the bunch did massively well with Source where iDtech 4 did little but spawn a set of fairly decent iD software franchise games. Whoever it was that made Prey seemed to be able to make a better game with it than iD and Raven. It feels like Bethesda are a developer with little patience for the inability of other devs to put together a popular game. If you look at what GGG has managed from nothing, far more than someone like iD was managing despite having one of the most advanced in house engines in the industry and franchises with millions of die hard fans around the world. You got to hand it to Bethesda, if you love or hate them or their games, they manage to put out big titles that deliver to their audience consistently. I must admit Im taking some of that Bethesda rough and tumble business spirit into my fallout 4 world with me. The need for wood and steel is real, Im like a corporate raider in the wasteland. Hostile takeovers, goons threaten a settlement, I take them out then use that as leverage to gain control of the settlement. Once in control I basically asset strip it, scrap every object in the zone down to the last tin can, send all the settlers I can to my large central towns and leave the ravaged husk of their dreams to rot in the sun. Madmax meets The Mayfair Set. I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)

It's a pity there are no "low Intelligence" speech options in FO4, especially since Bethesda included the "Idiot Savant" perk, which randomly awards from 3x to 5x XP (depending on the level of the perk) from any action. The lower your Intelligence, the greater the chance:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ZRpADqFgAo That's pretty impressive! At the highest perk level, randomly receiving bonus XP from any action may trigger 3x XP for all kills for a short period of time. =@[.]@= =^[.]^= basic (happy/amused) cheetahmoticon: Whiskers/eye/tear-streak/nose/tear-streak/eye/

Idiot Savant revisited:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N3TNoKhtGL4 Someone with a high Intelligence analyzed the perk, relative to high Intelligence, and it turns out that having high Intelligence is more beneficial, especially since you can still take Idiot Savant, and receive a statistically significant increase in your XP gains, overall. =0[.]o= =^[.]^= basic (happy/amused) cheetahmoticon: Whiskers/eye/tear-streak/nose/tear-streak/eye/ whiskers =@[.]@= boggled / =>[.]<= annoyed or angry / ='[.]'= concerned / =0[.]o= confuzzled / =-[.]-= sad or sleepy / =*[.]*= dazzled / =^[.]~= wink / =~[.]^= naughty wink / =9[.]9= rolleyes #FourYearLie Last edited by Raycheetah#7060 on Nov 20, 2015, 5:44:55 AM

Google informs me that my RNG isn't bad, there actually are NO repeating rifles in the game.
As soon as I find my missing child, I'm going to slap them for this particular oversight. == Officially Retired 27/02/2019 ==
Massive thanks to GGG for producing such a fun and engaging game, it has taken up faaaaaaar too much of my life over the last 5 years. Best of luck in the future! |

Probably thanks to PoE my reroll itch makes me want to reroll a pure melee character... I wonder if that would work.

" I can tell you that there are definitely modders working on restoring ALL your favorite Fallout weapons to FO4. The only question is when these mods will appear (dependent on the release of the Creation Kit in 2016), and which one(s) will be the best to use. =^[.]^= =^[.]^= basic (happy/amused) cheetahmoticon: Whiskers/eye/tear-streak/nose/tear-streak/eye/

There's no longer any reason (except to save improvement points for perks, instead) in FO4 to hold off on maxing out your SPECIALs:
"Taking a S.P.E.C.I.A.L bobblehead, while your stat is at 10 allows that stat to increase to 11. As the Bobblehead counts as a stat gain, if you were below 10 before picking it up, you can't level that stat to above ten via normal methods." http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Vault-Tec_bobblehead Good to know! =^[.]^= =^[.]^= basic (happy/amused) cheetahmoticon: Whiskers/eye/tear-streak/nose/tear-streak/eye/
