Fallout 4

Goodbye Path of Exile. I may see you once again. After I dump 500 hours into Fallout.
Playing it,

Fallout humor is gone. Everything is so serious and boring.

- yes charisma can change the option but you can t really roleplay whatever you want.

By that I mean the game is directif, you can t play an asshole at all.
All you do is railroaded and you can t really refuse a quest or decide to kill the good guys unless they ask you.

- Npc dialogue also boring.
Not much of interesting writing and one dimentional npc for now.

- Taking a low intel character will not give you new dialogue options or npc reactions

- Game is more prettier than I though.

- companions are immortal and there is not much quest from them (for what i seen so far none give you side quest)

seems you can court them at least the female one. They look like mules more than living npc.

- fights are fun but since fallout is now a fps it had to be.

- good feeling on the weapons, when you shoot something it feel great.

- crafting is great

- exploring is fun, hoarding too.

- The map is little but full of details. The levels and environment Design is good for now.

- Drugs are not very useful

- the music is good

- the vault part of the game is actually kind of boring. I hope there is other vault to explore because the starting one is empty of interest.

For now I miss new vegas and it s freedom.

I'm certain you still can, its just that it was purposely meant to be difficult to play the asshole evil character. They stated this in an article a while back that they wanted it to be difficult to want to play evil. Hence I think the nonrefusal of quests and killing good guys is meant to say "be good and do the quests or be evil and lose out on stuff that would have been more beneficial for more effort."

Welp. Waited two hours longer than I should have had to while picking up my copy. Went to bed because it would take 6 hours to download even after installing the pc disk. Just got up and crashes on startup. Trying everything people recommend but no dice so far before I head off to work in the lab.

Either people were making me too optimistic about my shitty system hardware or I just haven't had time to find out the problem. Pretty bummed either way. Was hoping to know for sure if it was working or not by now definitively.

mfw a friend gifted me Fallout 4 because he made some cash with Steam items (apparently that's a thing) and I have to play it now despite wanting to wait for goty edition and mods. Poor me :>

Pleiades post your specs.
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

i5-480m dual core
geforce gt 425m 1gb
6gb RAM

People on subreddits have reported 6 and even 4gb ram being no issue so I doubt that would cause it. And other people have been reporting similar CPUs in laptops doing fine. My gpu lags a fair bit behind other 1gb gpus people are claiming run fine in similar laptops.

Downloading it on my gf's desktop now to see if there is any hope for that one.

A8-5800k
8gb Ram
integrated graphics (so fat chance probably)

And no. Upgrades, buying a console blah blah blah are not an option.

(No spoilers in this post) Fallout 4 for PC - technical stuff I've observed:

1) Game Launcher will reconfigure and enable the Borderless Fullscreen option in the games INI file if you make any changes and save.
2) There is no option in the Game Launcher for determining what kind of Fullscreen mode to use, you must edit it in the configuration file.
3) The Game Launcher can not disable God Rays, unless you first choose the global Low detail preset. You can re-raise all the other settings afterwards if you like, once the Low preset is chosen God Rays will remain disabled.
4) The view distance slider settings do not properly correlate with the in-game configuration menu for the same settings. What I mean is you configure Grass Fade to 20% in the Game Launcher and it will appear as more, or less, in the in-game configuration menu.
5) No option to invert X axis for analog input and presumably also can't invert it for Mouse input either.
6) Game can't detect both gamepad and keyboard/mouse input simultaneously and the option to disable gamepad input seemingly doesn't allow keyboard/mouse input unless you physically unplug the gamepad.

The game performs pretty badly on my system in indoor environments even with the game configured like so:

Most stuff on Medium
Shadow Quality = Low
SSAO = Off
God Rays = Off (correctly turned off)
Screen Space Reflections = off
Wetness = off
Motion Blur = Off
Anti-Aliasing = Off
Anisotropic Filtering = 16x
1920x1080
Computer specifications:
Windows 10 Pro x64 | AMD Ryzen 5800X3D | ASUS Crosshair VIII Hero (WiFi) Motherboard | 32GB 3600MHz RAM | MSI Geforce 1070Ti Gamer | Corsair AX 760watt PSU | Samsung 860 Pro 512GB SSD & Crucial MX 500 4TB SSD's

Tried everything I could. Nothing worked. Updated non-gaming related programs because I was bummed and decided to forget it. Required restart again. Decided to try again even though I had just restarted. Works now! For some reason.

Nice. What resolution are you playing in? I actually didn't expect F4 running on only 1 GB of VRAM.
