Arua combos that should not be!
" Casuals have default league, where there is little if any negative impact for dieing. (I don't know if XP loss on death comes into effect until later difficulties or not as I only play HC so I never use a character after they die once) Casuals will see the insane mob, die, and have the option to rejoin the same instance of that area, or Ctrl+Click the waypoint/entry point to spawn a full new area that will not have the aura stacked mob that is owning him. A hardcore player will see the insane mob, make the split decision of fight or flight, and probably not die (unless they chose fight prematurely) and they will feel the weight of those monsters, and it will break them or drive them to get better at the game. I see no negative end to having these types of things occur in Path of Exile. Especially as a F2P game, no player has any right to complain of the difficulty or lack of difficulty in the game. It is designed for free amusement to any who would give it a try. If they don't like it, they can run and hide in Diablo 3. :) EDIT: And if they die in Diablo 3, well, at least they only paid cash to get owned in one of those games. ;) Last edited by HunterX57#1375 on Dec 19, 2011, 11:45:33 PM

Making the game to easy and casual would make it fail. Without challenge it would just be a timesink.
Sure the auras need some balancing but what I really don't like in this thread is all the "A mob should not be harder then a boss" arguments. As I see it bosses needs to be harder. They really are a pushover as it is now. And when (if) they get harder we get a new stick to measure toughness against. |

So long as the overpowered mobs don't appear too often, I'm all for keeping them. Keeps me on my toes when I don't have any idea how powerful the monsters are.
If the mobs are all limited to less than the boss, it limits the challenge and makes them more of a diversion between planning for the boss fights. It should always be bad enough to keep the option of Running Away a carefully considered alternative. This makes every mob a more thought out fight since you need to first consider how powerful the mob is. It also makes actually completing the level or even just getting to the boss much more rewarding. |

i have not played yet (no beta key dammm)
Still i like the idea of auras stacking ... ?? Do they stack just on rare or do they also affect mobs ?? Are the auras AOE or do they affect everthing on screen ,,, can u divide and conqer It is fatal to enter any war without the will to win it.

So what I am gathering here is that bosses need to be buffed. :)

One of my pet peeves in Diablo 2 were some of the super unique mobs that could kill me faster than ANY of the "bosses" in the game. Fanaticism + Spectral Hit + Extra Fast. Yeah. There's nothing like running around feeling all powerful only to then run face first into a group of mobs that kill you in less than 1 second.
If mobs are going to take as long as OP makes it sound, the rewards better be worth it. If not, I'll do what I ended up doing in D2, simply running past groups of mobs that had ridiculous bonuses that dropped crap for loot. |

You're never forced to fight these mobs, so I don't see the problem. If you want to fight them, you get a real challenge, otherwise you just run past them or reset the instance. Absolutely a no to nerfing them.
Bosses could be a bit more interesting, yes. Or there could be more than one boss mob. I'm not talking about boss mob + lots of adds, but rather a couple of boss level mobs. Perhaps a balanced party of them. Should make you have to think through the fight more. |

Yep, some of the combinations might seem to OP, but i think it should still be kept so that auras can be combined

the auras are almost perfect atm!!!
especially the phys/ele-dmg-reflect are very good. to keep the challenge up, especially at higher levels, where you normally just spam your skill and thats it. maybe they should be weakened at lower levels, as a compromise. but overall, i want more(and nastier) auras. in all combinations! i once met one that was faster than me!(i have + 30% runspeed and phaserun...) and shooting your icespear-barrage into a group of monsters, just half a second before you realize, that it has elem-reflect, well...priceless^^ |

Perhaps you should give the bosses multiply forms?
