Arua combos that should not be!
i dont mind that mobs are harder then some bosses....i love the challenge.
I hear people talking some mobs in D3 are impossible? hehe on other forums you hear D3 is a joke and every one just steamrolls the game (IF you bought enough good gear that is). This is what i love about PoE, Some mobs will OWN me badly...why?...for example i am going to spec to have good cold ressist but when a fire enchanted mob gets close and my resist for fire sucks it will own me. This kinda playstyle i like....because in endgame there will be people trading these maps that are suited for your character.....i will just trade the maps with fire mobs for a map with cold mobs (because that's how i am specced for). After 20 minutes of Beta this game owned me.....back to the older days of real hack and slash RPG's. |

You can encounter very rough monsters.
Some combos make them the perfect predator. It hard , its often leads to death to fight them. But... You can reset the instance or avoid them Unlike 'real' bosses , they can be avoided or ignored. 'Real' bosses cannot, and making them stronger , or giving them the same combos would prevent some builds or teams to continue. Random-perfect-combos monsters are awesome, they are the nasty surprise, they are why you don't feel invicible and continue to see challenge in the game. We need them. "random monster should not be stronger than the boss" Why ? coz its the boss ? Question: Would you prefer to fight a soldier or a general ? I choose the general ,its easier XD It is a bad cliché of fantasy to think that the higher is your rank ,the stronger you are, but in the end , there is no real reason for it except "he's da boss coz he's da strongest and da baddest". Sorry ,but its an ork reason. And the only one. On the other hand. There are plenty of reasons for a henchman to be stronger than his boss. More training, less planning, stronger but more stupid (so easily manipulated), the boss cannot be killed except in special conditions that the henchman cannot meet , etc So , there are heavy-combo mobs , and it is not good. Its needed.A aRPG without difficulty is a boring aRPG . Me i fight, i like big challenges. |

Like many of the posters here, I don't mind the occasional unexpected bad mambajamba in the wild to keep me on my toes. Dying isn't always the worst thing if you learn something from your tactics. It may just be something you remember going into a boss fight... where the rewards are what you are expecting for such effort.
Remember, nothing rewarding in life is free - so if it is free, it just might be a one-way ticket to Uncle Touchy's Naked Puzzle Basement... |

Only just downloading the Beta, but i do want to chip in here, dont lose the difficulty.
If something is hard you learn to addapt, i like a game were i must think on my feet because it keeps me busy and into the game. If i cant beat a certain mob then just go out and do something else or reload. Please dont make things easyer. |

Well, AT LEAST its so much easier than D3! If you see a golden mob with Molten, Fire Chains, Arcane, Invulnerable Minions, Fast and Vortex, you're pretty much dead.

I would agree with other people that the Boss mobs need to be harder, a lot harder. I haven't come across a mob that I couldn't absolutely dominate yet. This includes taking on 2+ rare mobs at a time with auras. Maybe my spec is too op and I need to respec for more of a challenge. 2H axe(cleave) Marauder with over 100 health per second regen, Blood for mana, and full resistances.

"Agree with this. I've only logged maybe 40 hours so far, but I will say that when I die in this type of situation it isn't because the game is cheap. Regen/Elemental Res Sawbones acquainted my cold witch with her own ass the other night, but I was able to win eventually by shattering corpses. It was a good fight. A little frustrating and time-consuming, but I felt good when I won. Agree re: the rewards. Maybe not rarity, but increased quantity dropped would be a reasonable tweak I think. Or maybe something as simple as a guaranteed drop of something (seems like I've killed some rare monsters that didn't drop anything). |

worst scenario I came across was o rare mob with these stats
Deals extra damage Extra Life Leeches Life Takes reduce Damage Has Enduring Cry It's one of the giant warg-like things in the crossroads on act2. I have a dual axe wield duelist(on my friend's account) Took me like forever to kill him. Beta Member at Last!!! ^^

The only problem with tough as nails mob packs is that these generally don't provide the reward for killing them. Back in D3 I literally fought 30 minutes with a pack when I started inferno just to find myself two blues.
Simple solution for this is to increase the drop chances on mobs that carry plenty of "advanced" modifiers. |

The stacking auras thing makes me just want to play the game more. I loved finding a mob in D2 that had the right combo of buffs to turn it into an absolute war.
I'd like to suggest something with the loot on these stacked mobs though. Their chances to drop rare or high quality loot should scale with the number of their buffs and how difficult these buffs make them to kill. If it worked that way, deciding to start a 20 minute brawl with some uber mob might work out to be a great decision because it dropped an awesome piece of gear or something really valuable. |
