Arua combos that should not be!
i once had one with 3 forms of regeneration, energy shield, both physical and elemental reflect, and to top all that off he had the aura that drained health from the enemies around him with boosted movement speed so he just ran around chasing me til i was dead, if i stopped he owned me... there was nothing i could do to kill him so i just logged off for the night.
I tried summoning 30 pets and then weakening him and dotting him and it still couldn't outdo his 3 stacks of regeneration which kept him full the whole time. |

Obviously that monster was totally OP. Hopefully though by changing your strategy you can overcome such a beast or situation, like trying a ranged attack, or simply go to another area or instance.

" You can't win them all, and you don't have to kill every monster you come across. If you can't outrun it, use a portal scroll and gtfo. Common sense is supposed to exist in adventurers, you are not a god, especially on HC mode. Sometimes fighting is not the answer. |

" From my viewpoint, the entertaining things are DIVERSITY and UNEXPECTED. I see no thrill to start in a battle I already know the outcome, and I will eventually get bored if all the monsters are the same. Out there are plenty of other games where monsters of the same type are identical and you can kill 1 - 100 - 1000 and then loose interest. I think monsters with stacked auras are great idea, and I also like the idea that you can encounter at random very strong monsters even if they are stronger then some bosses. |

" I agree it is a lot of fun to meet challenging monsters. The reward lies in the feeling you get when you finally manage to bring it down. In Diablo, the bosses were not the hardest mobs. They were usually just before. Like 3x lightning enchanted mobs in the counsil and mages with returned damage curses in hell. "That's how you die properly, Sailor Boy.." Yeah, stacked auras should stay, even if the monster ends becoming stranger than some bosses, I remember how easy was to die vs fanatism/speed/might uniques, or the dam souls with light chant/conviction and fana, dam, haha, hcl rocks, like 5-6 times I died to those, also, those bulls with dual axes, might/strong/fana or speed, 1 swing thay got xtra speed on attack + all the other mods, died a few time on my way to the ancients, even that I feel bad couse u dont have almost no time to react and hit esc and leave the game asap, it gives u the sattisfaction that when that happens again and u manage somehow to get alive, u learned something new.
And I think the same, fighting isnt the answer to all ur problems. Edit: some typos. Power and responsibility :P Last edited by Ulizeus#1043 on Dec 12, 2011, 8:47:15 PM

Monsters stronger than the area bosses? Yes please! This reminds me of other RPG's like Final Fantasy. Some monster mobs were harder to fight than the bosses in that area. It gives more life to the area instead of it becoming a useless grinding spot.

Here we go, the casuals already begging for an easier game..

hmm, casual gamers need not apply?
please let's not start the tired old casual vs hardcore debate. Some only have time for a casual dip into a game, and, in many cases that makes ftp games all the more appealing. I would say it very much depends on how often it happens, and at what level. He that cannot reason is a fool.
He that will not is a bigot. He that dare not is a slave. |
