Rain and Load Times

Lol AFAIK the problem with rain is not load times, but terrible FPS drops due to crap optimized engine.

Useless post ?

pretty much my first impression as well

never had a care about the load times as much as the fps loss going all the way down to 4 on rainy maps in parties like on the docks

crossroads.... i don't know anyone who had an issue with the crossroads, it's not even that big of a zone in the first place.
I am glad to see Chris & co mentioning and taking performance and optimization issues seriously and trying to find solutions, in public at least. It gives better hope and bodes well for 1.4 being more amazing than one's first expectations and anticipation.

Thanks & keep this up GGG, I believe you will surprise to the upside more than ever.
Dark_Chicken - lvl 100 Marauder
Divine_Chicken - lvl 100 Duelist
Since 1.2 rain areas like Unearthed Hideout, Docks... take around 30sec to load.
After its loaded it loads fast.
Every other area loads in 1 sec.
I have Samsung SSD 840 EVO 250GB.
My sound disabled and texture_quality=3

Not sure whats wrong...
Thanks for the update!
I like how Chris knows exactly how things are on my end and how rain effects my own PC and is calling me a liar.

While the devs are tinkering with testing that has already been isolated and solved, it shows the lack of consideration for the equipment used by those with issues. There are arguments about people using toasters, but funny enough those same 'toasters' run graphically equivalent games with no problem.

It's a tad unfair to compare GGG's engine to something that a big development house made isn't it? For an indy company, the PoE engine is actually pretty impressive, "performance" issues and all.

I read the rest of your post and ugh. Here is the issue I have with what you're saying. I play on a very old 6 year old computer with a 560ti. While my fps does dip in very rare circumstances, my game is FAR from unplayable. I have AA and shadows off. Everything runs very well. If you have a machine that performs slower than mine than yes, you have a potato of a machine and you should upgrade. Any respectable PC gamer, casual or not should know that he has to meet a certain performance bar when playing any PC game and that bar varies from game to game. I'm not going to complain because I can't play PoE on my 486dx2 and I won't complain when I can't play a game 25 years from now on my current machine. This is the name of the game. If you don't want to think about that stuff, buy a console.

As for people complaining about the platform the tests were performed on, come on fellas. That is a really low bar. If you're playing on an machine at that level, it really is time for you to upgrade. Sure you can play EA games where they have TONS of resources and have leveraged past engines on their current ones and you get great performance but really. GGG isn't EA and they pretty much leveraged on nothing. You can bet that if I see GGG do something wrong I'll criticize them but all I see a ton of is entitled people thinking that their $400 dollar laptop should be able to play every game that is out there.

As for people with legitimate complaints with their hardware and the game, that does suck. I've read about people finding solutions to their issues so maybe you need to do more research or bite the bullet and change out some hardware.

As for GGG, great job fellas. Your game plays pretty damn good on my old POS desktop and my gaming laptop.

This game must be poorly optimized because it won't run at 120fps on my machine.

Because that is what he did. Then he took a dump on your keyboard.

It's crazy. Everyone disagrees with him. Why isn't this thread littered with 20 second videos? Just show him.

Post your specs.

All of you.

Click start, run, dxdiag, save all information. POST THAT FILE.

If you want devs to tailor the game to your PC, they need more info that WAAA I SPENT 1000 DOLLARS HOW DARE YOU POVERTY!

I sure as hell haven't read all the posts in this thread. I started this game with a pentium 4,single core, xp, integrated video. Then to dual core, win7 32 bit, integrated video ( had 512mb video) Forgot. Trust me it affects load times and performance.

I now have an i7 quad core, 12 gb ram, 2gb video, ssd. Trust me. The game runs problem free other than very fast little glitches here and there.

The fact that a lead developer wants to act like a system doesn't matter, amazes me.
