Story of a duper

But you couldn't.

It is hilarious how people give us shit all the time for "just believing what GGG tells us" all the time, but once there comes some dude who says he duped without providing any sort of proof that he actually duped and people believe every word he says.

Did you see the items he made? You don't make a 6T1 PERFECT split phys/magic damage Dagger in a temp league. If anything duping is the only way this would be possible, even RMT couldn't come close.

While I think dupe is more believeable because the odds of crafting that dagger are insanely low, it's still possible that he got super lucky :) Did someone actually calculate the odds? What number are we talking about here?
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

Sure, and GCPman farmed those gcp's? I highly doubt it, even with the possibility of maphack running jewellers.

Were talking about the Dagger crafting guy not GCP man. just because my explination dost satisfy GCP man's story dosn't mean it isn't how Dagger boy created his item.

GCP man could have simply been an rmt site using an in game account to move some of their product. There is a vendor recepie for GCP and there are strong boxes that help you get the required items for that recepie. Bots can be set up with map hacks to run and roll jewelers strong boxes.

Bots can not be set up to get you a guaranteed rate of income on eternals/exalts as no vendor recepie exists.

If I were a betting man I'd put my money on GGG is telling us the truth. They haven't given us a reason in the past not to trust them so I will continue to trust them until they prove to me that they can not be trusted.

Without eternals ? WIth only yolo alts regals exalts? Probably 1 in a few gazillions.

Like others have said GGG has never lied to us so when they say a dupe method did not and does not exist I tend to beleive them. Especially since the guy that started that thread could have taken screenshots with stacks of mirrors or et/ex in his stash that would help prove his story since I doubt any amount of botting/rmt can get you a full page of stacked mirrors in your inventory during a temp league.

You really think GGG could have said: "There are many ways of duping guys, you could use it and get super rich but please dont try to find that ways, duping is bad."

That guy wouldnt tell you all on reddit about that trick if he wouldnt got banned, but he banned and how he suppose to provide you screenshots if his accout is locked to him? Or you think its normal to screenshot your currency during play? Is is a new fetish? Do you jerk off on your stack of currency?

Anyway I think duping is real

I find it interesting how GGG has unique item IDs for everything except currency.

Kind of goes to show why they can't stamp down RMT even if they wanted to; can't trace the transactions so all they need to do is shuffle currency between mules to keep the bank mules safe.
it's not too interesting because it's the standard way of dealing with something that is like sand in quantity, in a uniform and honest way. Let's put it that way, a stash tab full of wisdom scrolls contains more items than your whole character account has in stash +equipped. and wisdom scroll is not even the most atomic currency you can get (scroll fragment). If you have a unique id for each piece of currency, imagine what it does to database.

But that doesn't necessarily mean they can't track down trades as in having a trade log for each character. I doubt they do, but it's much easier then assigning uid to currency pieces. There are only so many trades one can do and it's easily scalable.
Checked out link, checked out commments, and i found something much more interesting:

Come on man don't make me spell out every little detail.

GGG announces when they fix an exploit just like they did when they fixed server crash method people were using to craft perfect items without eternals or to get perfect corruption on their items without risk of bricking the item.

They would have said something along the lines of "fixed an exploit that allowed some people to duplicate certain items." In a patch note. They said something along those lines when they fixed the server crash method.

So no they would not say "Hey guys this is how you dupe but please don't do it k." They would say "there was an exploit that allowed you to duplicate items and we fixed it." GGG has said that there has never been a way to dupe items so why not beleive them over some attention seeking kid on reddit? The guy even admits he wants attention and that was how he got caught allegedly.

even if we assume this story isn't true, something like this probably happened a lot more than once.
no code is "bullet proof", and players will always find exploits. even those who aren't explicitly looking for them.

so let me re-iterate what I think about this, and the rest of the recent "cheater fever" as a whole. @GGG:

fuck economy.
stop balancing every fucking thing on economy.
make the loot system actually work, without shoving "what about economy?" in every part of it, for fuck's sake.

and the man-power and effort you are putting into playing cops-and-robbers with a bunch of snotty cheat-tool creators? take it, and use it to optimize your fucking code instead.

thank you.

Dude, that dagger is almost impossible to craft. It is is much more likely he is telling the truth, than crafting that through pure luck.

if you think someone can get that dagger so early in the game, then you really lack the understanding of crafting odds.

Plus he is banned. And there are people confirming him posting vaaled legacies (acuities, shavs, etc) in global chat.

Also, are you aware of GCPman and walmartgirl during rampage? Those two were obvious dupers, only probably using different method.

So yes, duping is very real. And yes, when you see such a dagger, it's a dead giveaway that there's some kind of duping behind. Thus GGG finally detecting him and banning him.

He was extremely stupid, he should just continued doing this and getting rich through rmt, but got greedy.

Apparently there are so many people duping, but I have still not seen any proof other than "look at that item".

He makes a mile long post about it, but can't provide any proof other than "look at these items".

After reading this, lets wipe everything, standard, HC, and start fresh.
Coming from a self found hoarder, accummulated hoards of junk since CB/OB, full of legacy gear etc, this says alot to rid it all.
POE is a constantly evolving game, so expect balance changes, buffs and nerfs STILL!
