Well, if GGG is ok with this cheating, then they might as well give us self found league or an offline version.

Because always-on with this kind of cheating makes no sense.

I fail to see how an offline version would help. You could play the online version and pretend it was offline? I mean, you never see people if you dont want to, you dont have to talk to anyone or party with anyone or trade with anyone and so on? How does it affect you that someone is cheating and how does it help that they give you an offline version?

Cheating sucks, but it doesnt really affect me if someone is using maphack. The only way I see it affecting me is if they are able to more reliably farm something because of some kind of tool and affect the market, but I dont have to take part in the market?

but he has stuff i dont and thats why im mad...

thats what i get out of this since if you already are considering to play in offline mode then i dont see how something someone else does would affect your fun in this game because obviously you dont care anyway if there is someone else or not.

One must assume that GGG has balanced the economy around those streamers, but the damage the highlighting would cause if it became more widespread is likely not something GGG has balanced around yet.

The economy is the no1 priority.

so what you say is if everyone would take the time to inspect every drop the poe economy would crash... well thats a nice game design... i guess...

i just hope they dont ban me for contributing to the destruction of the economy since i do sift through all the shit that drops ^^

They dont balance around streamers, they balance around trading. Streamers get what they beg for though as evident with that 1 month HC where, without the streamers we would have had only a 1 month SC.

yes so how does item highlighting interfere with "trading" balance then if the stuff that drops anyway is there whether or not it is used and the only difference is if i see it outright or have to stand there for a minute and look at every single item.

and thats for me playing solo since partying is just cancer in this game with more than 3 people for me when there are too many people in the group that have flashy shit shooting off every second...(if i did correctly that tool would even adress this problem since you can turn off unnesecary particles)

also try playing a endgame map with a magic finder and a full party ... it would take 2 hours to get through all the white shit that drops to look for usable baseitems because all you see is a brick wall of white letters. and yea you can turn it off but playing a hack&slay game with permanent items turned off is ... yea well doesnt feel right.

i dont like cheating myself but those 2 QoL features sound very very tempting

How is it not? Example: first 50 8/8 get a reward. Who has the advantage, someone using HUD or someone not using HUD?

And now, can you please explain to me how an offline version would help you in this matter? You either play offline version where you cant take part in the race to top 50 8/8 or you play the online version and ignore the race to top 50 8/8, its the same thing isnt it?

GGG must either ban everyone using the HUDs and multihack tools, or release an offline version of the game. The argument for online-only becomes tremendously weak if they can't provide an even playing field.

They must not do anything, they do whatever they want and you will have to abide by it. All online games has cheating in them, its just how the world works. There are cheaters everywhere, in all aspects of life, you cant catch them all, sadly.

While cheats ruin races, you wont be affected by it much in the normal leagues, you probably would never notice it, but I find it annoying just knowing there are cheaters breaking the rules, so I hope to see some banwaves in the near future. However I know they wont get everyone. Online or offline wouldnt make any difference in this matter because the cheaters wont hurt you.

Cheating (loot alert, strongbox alert, maphack, etc) provides a competitive advantage. Over time, the increased clearing/farming efficiency manifests into increased wealth. This has a significant effect on legit players in normal leagues, because we all compete in trade. Furthermore, even a cheater who never trades affects me, as it's an issue of equity/distributive justice when a cheater receives greater reward per unit time investment than a non-cheater.

This only matters when you're forced to play online-only, adhering to GGG's set progression rate. An offline mode enables you to set your own progression rate via mods/trainers, and issues of equity/distributive justice become obsolete as reward allocation approaches infinity.
Never underestimate what the mod community can do for PoE if you sell an offline client.

Yeah, ok. Since you are going to use cheats in the offline version, of course its different. But if you were going to play legit in the offline version it wouldnt make a single difference if people cheated in the online version. I would never use cheats in offline version though, so I hadnt thought of that.

I think the problem here is more about you thinking that everyone wants to compete with you. The game has a lot more aspects to it than having the best build or getting the best drop or being recognized for any of that bullshit. I play the game to have fun. Your competition bores me.
