poll: the "like to trade" vs the "forced to trade"
this discussion is addressed at the traders. those who "play economy" in various degrees.
1) a "likes to trade" player, is essentially one who's here for the trade more than anything else. thrives on the thrill of obtaining and selling expensive items, even if they are rarely put to actual use. hoards orbs as currency for the purpose of "getting rich", primarily. 2) a "forced to trade" player, is one who trades for a purpose: gear. things that will be used, and are needed. "getting rich" means less for this kind of player, than being able to afford having powerful characters he/she can slay monsters with, and be proud of. so, are you a "likes to trade" or a "forced to trade"? explain. once this poll gets a good amount of answers, I'll explain its purpose and why I chose to call player type (2) a "forced to trade". Might help your cause if you chose a less biased term than "forced".

Well I just started the one month league a couple of days ago, I am level 62 now and in Mecr A2. The last upgrade I found was when I was level 48 in cruel docks.
Today at level 61, I was forced to trade to progress and further into A2 because my fire and cold my resists were below 30%. I have to trade all my chaos for boots and a chest just to bring my resist closer to cap. 14 levels with nothing useable for my Arc lighting build. At level 60 I crafted because I could not find an upgrade to my ilvl 12 When you get to higher levels less rares drop (even with the rare iir stat) and you have a higher pool of items and stats that can roll. Big brick wall. I hate trading. When I get into mapping I spend more time trying to trade shit then I do killing shit. |

I'd say I'm "forced to trade". I dont like trading, but if I want any decent gear I need to trade because I wont get the drops myself, unless I am super lucky I might get a piece.
Im sure most of my HC deaths have been because I have refused to trade and only use what I find and thus have really aweful gear. I dont really mind not having the best gear though, I always have something to look forward to. I find it more satisfying to find an upgrade rather than buying one. However, this might be of topic, but playing HC with less than optimal gear with the desync issues and the like, doesnt always work out. |

Your poll is way too binary. I would consider that I like to trade, however I'm surely not here for trade more than anything else (I just quote your definition). And I don't feel forced to trade at all. So I can't answer your poll.
I often see that binary mindset about trading on these forums : if you're not using your own loots only, then you play path of economics/ trading simulator/ lioneye's watch sitting 24/7. Yeah sure. IGN : @Morgoth

" I'm actually happy to see an honest response from a player closer to type (1). so, how would you define and describe your approach to trade? Alva: I'm sweating like a hog in heat Shadow: That was fun Last edited by johnKeys#6083 on Jul 24, 2014, 2:11:05 PM

Definitely forced to trade, I would much prefer not to. I don't ever sell anything and once in a while I will trade for a quality gem or a leveling item if I'm really struggling in merciless.
I always feel like I'm overpaying but I would much rather play the game than research item prices so I'm ok with that. |
