Magic 2015

Anyone else tried it yet?

Pros:

- You can create your own decks completely from scratch unlike previous versions. This is awesome and the main reason I forsee myself spending a lot of time with it.

- They seem to have done a slightly better job on balance, assuming all players have access to the same cards, as there are now a lot of strong possible combinations, unlike 2013 which was ruined by OP goblins and 2014 which had totally imba black/white decks.

- The cutscenes and in game art seems to have improved

Cons:

- It's 100% pay to win, or at least pay to be on the same level as the other people who bought all the booster packs. You need to be playing against people who have access to the same cards as you, otherwise it simply isn't balanced.

- They still didn't work out the multitude of technical issues that have been reported for years. If you're using a widescreen monitor and you attempt to change the screen resolution or exit full screen, you're going to end up in notepad editing config.cfg files and making them read only so that the game doesn't crap itself, which is pretty lame given the resources they have at their disposal.

- It's expensive and there isn't a full version. Preordering the "complete bundle" was $52, then when I found it wasn't actually complete I spent another $10 on booster packs, and it still says I only have 48% of the available premium cards. "complete bundle" my ass, evidently there's nothing complete about it.

Overall I'm enjoying it because I don't mind just buying boosters until I have all the cards so I can spend countless hours building my own decks. The ability to build completely custom decks was what I felt was missing from previous versions and for me the fact they included it this time is enough to outweigh the annoyance of endless dlc, in game shop, and having to setup the graphics options in notepad.
Lackeyccg lets you play all the cards without cost.
Wizards of the coast has sucked my wallet dry in the past. Almost criminal how they get away with pricing pieces of cardboard so high. Online its even more exploitive.
For years i searched for deep truths. A thousand revelations. At the very edge...the ability to think itself dissolves away.Thinking in human language is the problem. Any separation from 'the whole truth' is incomplete. My incomplete concepts may add to your 'whole truth', accept it or think about it

I don't know if exploitative is really the right word. I just call it bullshit. Exploitation is when people do shit like this with something you actually need. In the case of computer games it's just general bullshit, not actual exploitation.

I've used lackeyccg in the past, but only because Wizards of the Coast has a discriminatory sales policy that simply doesn't allow people in many countries to play its games. I can't play MTG Online, it won't let me because I live in Cambodia, even though I'd be willing to buy as many overpriced digital cards as anyone else.

got it for fun, but am most likely not going to bother taking it to multiplayer.
Its more developerpredefined than the last years one but still managed to make a sphynx-deck that only utilises Spells and no creatures.
Removal in common is expensive and thus creatureheavy is the way to go normally.
Not a fan of everyone getting the same cards -> everyone multiplayer plays the same decks.

This looks awesome, thanks for link. Just been checking out a few youtube vids of it. Is there currently a way to buy into closed beta? I don't see one on the site :(

Yup, thing is I've been wanting to play MTG online for years (the proper online version, not the Steam thing) but I can't because it says its not available here and won't take my money :( If these guys will then I'll just play their game instead, even if the art looks a bit cartoony for my liking.
