A factor of inflation and why the economy is NOT WORKING

Have you ever actually sat down with a bunch of crafting materials and tried it? The guy you mentioned did it exactly right, he got the hardest affixes (movement speed, max %ev and max flat ev) from alts, regals and an exalt. After that it's smooth sailing. There are only 4 rare affixes there, and of those only 30% ms is really that hard to hit (so you do it with alts).

He's rich because people like you see him advertising boots for 300+ ex, and then you just go along with the assertion that they are worth that much. It's silly. That you would then go on to say he must have got his wealth from rmt is just beyond funny. Look at yourself advertising his 100ex boots as being worth 340ex, then come back and tell us where his wealth came from.

Duh, I just meant that after a certain point, you need to gamble dozens (or hundreds) of exalts if you want to keep progressing gearwise. When your previous upgrade was with 10c or so.

This is because of eternals.

Example: I need chaos resi, str and life + random resistances on my boots. However, I feel slow so I want movement speed on them aswell. Now to upgrade from

(which are not worth eternal exalting for movespeed)

I need to

1. Accumulate dozens of exalts AND eternals to craft from better base with possibility that I'm left with nothing to show. No thanks.
2. Search for better already better boots and buy them. Now, just adding the same values and movement speed on xyz...

-> I get this

Oh? Boots for mirroring, right. No thanks.

If eternals didn't exist, someone probably found similar boots as I have, yolo-exalted them, got 20 movement speed and decent hybrid ev/ar% roll. Cool, upgrade for me with probably 10-20 exas.

I'm not saying this is a problem for me. I keep having fun with rolling new characters and trying new things but for people like OP who want to progress from this point, eternals created a HUGE wall.

That is exactly what I was mainly pointing out, thank you for making the effort to undertsand instead of blaming me for having discovered a gap on the economy LOL. What's wrong with people.

You have hit a wall that it's very easy to hit on this game. Then people says that Standard is flooded with items ? LOL. Yeah it's flooded with items to clone for a mirror and fee, dudes.

why don't you publish a real guide on crafting based on your experiences, so everyone can take advantage of it ? That would be nice of you.

Crafting changes a lot, there have been good guides, and someone will probably make another one after the next major expansion which will probably change things again.

For now, it's pretty simple:

- Helms, boots and chests are easy to make because (with the exception of 30% MS on boots) none of the desirable affixes are super rare.

- Always use alts/augs/regals to get 3 of the hardest affixes on what you're making, unless all three of the hardest are all either prefixes or suffixes, in which case you'll need an exalt to hit all of them.

- Never use alts/regals to get the easy affixes and then exalt for the harder ones. I think that's where a lot of people go wrong and then end up under the impression that crafting is more expensive than it actually needs to be.

As an example, lets say you wanted to make these boots you're talking about. 30% movement speed is the hardest affix to hit, followed by % ES/EV and flat ES. These are all prefixes. That means at very least, you want to make sure that from alts/augs/regals you need to end up with 30% MS and one of the other two prefixes. If you regal and you come out with a T1 suffix, scour and start again, eternal/exalting for res isn't going to cost a lot, whereas doing it for the prefixes will.

As an example of why shields are a different matter entirely:

Let's say we want a 6 T1 affix CoE shield. It's going to need max spell damage, %es, flat es, additional block chance, and two suffixes that would be build dependent (ele res or mana regen or something like that). This puts us in a world of shit. Glyphic (the max spell damage affix for shields) has a 0.081% chance of being rolled on wands, and I think it's the same for shields.

At 0.081%, it's by far the rarest affix on the shield, so you need to get it from alts. Not only that, but it's rare enough that if you get it by itself without a suffix, it actually theoretically makes sense to eternal it with just the single affix. The amount of alts/augs it would statistically take to get glyphic with a desired T1 suffix is way more than the cost of a couple of eternals. Data on other relevant shield affixes isn't currently available afaik, but T1 additional block chance would be the next hardest to hit, and it's also pretty damn rare, certainly not something you want to be exalting for. So in an ideal world, you eternal glyphic then aug until you get block chance. Then you're left to eternal exalt for max flat es, %es, and res/mana regen.

That means that some of the "easiest" affixes for your shield (which you get by eternal exalting) are the same rarity as the hardest affixes that you'd be alt/regaling for on a chest or boots, which is why they are a completely different thing when it comes to crafting.

With that in mind, there is absolutely no reason ever to mirror something that doesn't come from a massive pool of very rare affixes; shields, daggers, maybe wands (but void battery generally makes it pointless). Mirroring anything else is a waste of the potential of the mirror in terms of rarity of affixes acquired for currency used. And that's not even accounting for the fact that it generally costs less than a mirror to make everything else anyway.

*I should note, I haven't mentioned gloves. They are a contentious issue and I'm not going to get into it at the moment. There is certainly a solid case to be made that you could easily end up spending more than the cost of a mirror to make perfect gloves, but it's still not as difficult as shields and daggers. Idk.

It is not about absolutely GG. The difference from the boots he has now to the boots that appear on his poe YZX search is ABYSMAL. And there is nothing in between. Sometimes you just need a high roll of STR on some item for example, that is also really close to impossible to find coupled with one or two more good stats. The itemization is wrong on this game and very prone to WRONG.
WTF? I wouldn't pay 2 ex for those boots.

Yeah, I did the search with light resi only. Would have to adapt rest of the gear for light -> fire. (Basically finding new rings, which cost a lot... so I'd prolly end up 10 ex lighter just for the movement speed).

But still, just 3 pairs of boots and the gap is from 10c-3ex -> mirror tier (as I pointed out). There's nothing in between (yes, yes... I said it before... it's those eternals...).

Thank you for this, we are still missing tons of real information about it though.

This is a good example of what I said in the post above about people doingitwrong. The boots are worthless, and exalting them is a waste of time because the chances of hitting 30% ms is so low. For the boots to be worth considering for exalting, they need to already have the MS because that's the hardest affix for you to hit. That one affix is more valuable than the first three affixes on those boots combined. I see why you thought they had potential, but it's one of those "so near yet so far" things, you don't have the most important affix, which is needed BEFORE you get into eternal/exalting.

If you've been trying to eternal/exalt for max movement speed then it's no wonder you think everyone else must be cheating and that boots can really cost 300ex to make. They are crafting in a vastly more efficient way than you.
What other information would you be looking for? Monsta gave a good summary and I kinda disagree that crafting is for the rich ->

Crafted one of my low-life rings

Diamond Ring Base

Max Accuracy, Max WED, cold res, rarity, some ele roll and something else

Alt'ed and regalled for accuracy and wed and res, yolo-ex'ed 3 times.

Total cost me around 4 ex, I'd put the worth at that much - I could have equally have gotten lucky and hit mana regen or another res and it would have been worth WAY MORE than I put into it.

Similarly there is no such thing as "40 ex boots" since they just don't cost that much for a shit pair, the ones for 20-1 ex are life, str, chaos, ms, one other res - "40 ex" boots in ur mind is probably armour rolls since only prefixes are left - if gaining 400 ar cost u 40 ex, I think you'd qq as well.
