[1.2.X Guide] Mollari's Molten Strike Bino's Crit Dagger 155k/222k Tooltip DPS! - *With Atziri*

What's your opinion on using 6L lightning coil and running Purity of Lightning? Is it worth the pain in gearing for (increased?)survivability?

I would say probably not worth it but you wanted to try to make it work its possible.

I have been fooling with the new tree and plan on having something out but the Ranger section was gutted of life. I know you now get 12 instead of 8 life per level but you can easily get like 225% life from mara/duelist section and you end up struggling to get like 150% from around the ranger/shadow. From the looks of it, might lose a little dmg but 120/170k is a bit overkill so it shouldn't be terrible. I will let you guys know as soon as I figure something out that I like!

Hi,

I am currently running molten strike with my bino in a 4L Volls and am still doing 50k tooltip dps, however, i am running it on mana with the mind drinker passive and i can do half recovery maps just fine.

I have found that the melee physical damage gem improves my dps more than a same-level added fire damage gem. It also helps my mana leech because i only leech mana from physical damage. I was wondering if the reason why melee physical damage boosts my dps more than added fire is because i do not have quality on the fire damage. You did not include that gem in the "test" gems stats you have shown so i also wanted to know if you did try it.

Second, i am playing with a shield that has an higher amount of evasion than the perandus, which allows me to take the ondar's guile passive and benefit from it. I have found it to be great agaisnt the molten projectiles reflect since i have (36% times 2) 72% chance to evade this reflect, and this evasion chance gets capped when i use my surgeon jade flask. Do you feel like the block you are getting from crest of perandus is worth more than the evasion chance you could get from another shield. (Thousand teeth still has life leech, 37% block while having ok evasion (500+), despite the fact is does not have lightning resist like perandus, could this be a good option?) Plus, ondar's guile is really helpful agaisnt avian retches, devourers and the porcupine goliaths killed by a party member

I have read your guide entirely but may have missed something, please excuse me if this is the case and i make you repeat.

Edit: corrected some mistakes and clarified some sentences

The Melee Physical gem will make your DPS higher on your tooltip but it doesn't do anything for the projectiles. Added Fire will be overall higher DPS but if you need it on a 4L to sustain mana then feel free to continue to use it. It sounds like even with Added Fire you would be fine on mana though.

The higher evasion on the Thousand Teeth is not 3% chance to evade which makes it not as good as Perandus. It would need to be 3% chance to evade or higher difference to make up for the 3% less chance to block. Evade/block would have you taking 0 damage so I would stay with the Perandus.

If you wanted to use Ondar's that is completely fine. I didn't because even with the insane tooltip DPS I was just fine with either reflect. Also keep in mind that if I am running with someone with anger/wrath or parties higher then roughly 2ish I would switch in Life Gain on Hit for Added Fire.

Hope that helps, good luck!

there a two things to concider:
according to the wiki http://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Molten_Strike
the projectiles are not considered "meele" so the melee physical damage
support game only increases your initial hit.

As far as i know - molten strike tool tip does only display the initial hit dps and
does not include the projectile part.

I gave the new tree a try, notable changes:
* shadow seems to be the better start, as the generic physical dmg nodes increase attack & projectiles
* phase acrobatics is better now as the pathing changed from 3/3/2/2 dodge to 3/4/3 dodge, might be a solid option
* the new "Revelry" notable gives +2 mana for each enemy hit - depending on the new mana cost of molten strike this might be an option to blood magic

As a first try:

At only 128% life you would be losing quite a bit (around 500 in my specific gear). It would also be quite a bit of a DPS loss.

I'll post what I believe will be the new tree for 1.2 sometime today.

Alright! Time to drop the potential 1.2 tree and remember, THIS IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE!

The tree was generated using http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/994393 that 1.2 offline planner. So if you need the planner, or it will not load, download that one.

There is a minor change in the amount of strength needed for this build. One of the 30 strength nodes is not worth getting anymore so you will be required to have up 17 strength on either a ring/amulet/belt. This should be made a lot easier with the new Forsaken Masters but keep that in mind. It is quite easy to pull that much strength on an amulet implicit but I just wanted to get that information out in case you want to find an amulet prior to 1.2. The 17 strength is based on you having a 20 all stats Abyssus (can go up to 25) but just make sure you have the required 151 strength total for Molten Strike.

We are losing some projectile damage, 39% to be exact. This is due to the need for life and not having much in the Ranger section. This is countered with more crit, crit multi, and attack speed. I do not have the exact numbers in front of me but it should be very close in damage for 1.2.

We also will be gaining other benefits as well such as 9% movement speed, 80% life flask recovery, 10 all res, as well as some life. The life will be character specific but for my exact setup I will be gaining 311 life which for me, is roughly 7.6% increase.

When it comes to life you have to keep in mind that it is now 12 life per level instead of 8. So while the life % is lower, the overall gain is higher but will depend on your specific gear setup. It should be an increase for everyone using this spec.

Potential 1.2 tree

Here is a quick comparison I did comparing the previous tree to the new one. Note that bandits and gear are not included as they will stay the same.

If you guys have any other questions let me know! I will be specing this chr on the day of 1.2 to test it quickly before jumping into the new leagues. I will keep you guys up to date on any changes etc!

The pathofexile.com website will always show what is current in game. IF you check my previous post you will see I posted a link to the offline skill tree planer that contains the tree that will be coming in 1.2. Download that program and then load the build from my previous post into the offline planer. Hope that helps!
