Vaal Gems - Half-Assed Design
Man, you always can use them as a spare vaal skill gems for some exalts.

Soul is gained upon dealing X amount of damage. X is normal HP pool of a white monster at the level of that vaal gem. Save souls across zones. I think that's all that needs to be done. Monkeys will give say half a soul each, while monsters with high health pools like golems, bears, blues, rares, uniques will all give more. This would allow vaal gems to be charged while killing bosses as well. Perhaps the same change could get applied to flasks.

" That's a pretty good guideline to start at. I'd say Vaal Skill gem level shouldn't be the deciding factor on X, but simply the enemy pool vs its own level. If I could charge up vaal skills during a tough fight I'd be more inclined to spare the links. I really like this idea. :) |

Perhaps one soul for amount of damage done equal to health of a white monster in the current zone.

" That's not fair, because different monsters have different healths. So just 1 soul per X health based on the monster level. Still, although this would work and be infinitely better than the current shitty system, there should be MORE than just that, to cater to different playstyles. I really like the idea of charging these skills gems with "lifeforce" instead of "souls", aka damage dealt to a target gives charges, not just an actual kill. That would allow some vaal skills to be used more frequently during especially tough encounter and maybe boss fights....

I like them the way they are but all in all any suggestion is about releasing more than once or twice the effect of the vaal gems per instance which was their intended use obviously.
