thoughts on my item
Basically the "status ailments" get "proliferated" (they spread in an AOE radius around the initial target receiving the ailment).
However, when you have "overkill", the body's of the victims that died while having a status ailment on them keep sending out this status ailments to nearby monsters in an AOE range. You can imagine this is extremely potent for burn builds. Basically your unique would be rarely utilized because proliferating a burn in an AOE is one of the most commonly used methods of scaling a fire build. imagine 1000 burn damage on a target with 500 hp. After the victim has died, he will keep "burning" for an additional 500 damage around his corpse and every enemy that walks within this AOE will start to take the overkill damage until it runs out. Hope this somewhat explains the intrinsics of the mechanic. It would make your ring very niche and i personally think, not utilized a lot. (you determine if this is troubling to you or not :D ) Peace, -Boem- Edit : to clarify, you don't have to kill a target in one hit. The gem simply gives status ailments an AOE tag, even a small status ailment will get proliferated for it's duration. The thing that is troubling with your design for ele prolif users is that "overkill" status ailments still get spread by corpses, which with your ring would not function because of the absence of corpses. Ah, gotcha. Doesn't worry me. I just wanted to be able to do fire damage with cold based skills.

" but thats the point. your item is a strict downgrade to cold to fire avatar of fire for the moment. the reason to go fire is for burn, proliferation is the reason burn is strong, your item destroys the corpse, preventing the use of proliferation.
"Explode" usually refers to the mechanic of Infernal Blow/Detonate Dead which does Fire Damage based on the mobs life... So I doubt you could use that exact mechanic/keyword for what you have in mind.
Not to mention getting rid of Corpses = bad. Party members that need Corpses would hate you. :P I think letting the corpses explode to deal damage is fine and not broken, since it wouldn't be linked to anything, and would prevent you/partymembers from making use of the Corpses. ~.^ @SVD, Proliferation is not broken.. Detonate Dead however, is. EA IGN: We_Have_Monk_at_Home *Burnt out and waiting for either PoE1 League or new PoE2 Classes.* Last edited by Sheriff_K#3938 on Jun 27, 2014, 12:55:47 PM

" Well I gave my opinion on the first page regarding that. It needs more offensive stats to make up for the lack of defensive stats and the exploding mod that weakens any prolif builds(the main form of burn builds). |

" How does this ring interact with the cold to fire gem and avatar of fire? |

" you are wrong. use prolif without detonate dead then use detonate dead without prolif then tell me which one is the culprit
" Use Proliferation without Incinerate Then Use Incinerate with Proliferate. See what I did there? Proliferation is at a good place, aside from DD's balance post 1.1 Uniques, and nerfing it any further would ruin/break Burn builds to being useless/unviable.. Not to mention it's other uses like Shocking/Freezing... You give up a Support Slot to run Proliferate, and it's pointless for Critical builds which are what is really op; nerfing Proliferate would just put the nail in the coffin on non-Crit Spell builds, which are already few and far between.. :S EA IGN: We_Have_Monk_at_Home *Burnt out and waiting for either PoE1 League or new PoE2 Classes.* Last edited by Sheriff_K#3938 on Jun 27, 2014, 1:04:40 PM

" This is much better than stats. :) I like the idea in (1), though now that it's possible with CtF+AoF, it's not a truly new concept. I understand how it's a bit weird now that GGG has added fire skills non-stop (SB, Flameblast, Molten Strike, Incinerate, Flame Surge) and only added one cold skill recently (GC), and it's only a half-cold skill. I'd probably use it with Ice Shot for the most part, as that way you get decent burn damage and enemies are still on chilled ground. Pretty decent combo and is as cheap as just putting on this ring. I mean, IS still sucks compared to stuff like LA or Split, but it won't be completely non-viable. (2) is very cool and is useful in areas like Coward's Trial, versus Avian Retches, Necromancers, and DD enemies/bosses. It's easily my favorite part about the ring mechanically, despite appearing to be cosmetic. Reminds me of the D2 "Slain enemies rest in peace" mod on Nature's Peace. --- " Since it's already converting 100%, conversions over 100% do nothing. CtF and AoF will do nothing that this ring doesn't already do. I guess technically AoF will also convert phys/light into fire as well as cold, which may be helpful. Yeah the "slain enemies rest in peace" was my inspiration! Loved that mod in D2. Seems people *want* corpses now, which is a downside to this ring I suppose. However, I have no problems with the ring being situational. I wasn't trying to create a BiS item by any means, just something that would be interesting to use. Keep in mind, the item is level 11, it's intended use is for leveling and such.
