Your League ideas

League setup:

1. Everyone starts at first map. No mobs at all. You are level X (40 for example) with X points to spend in tree.
2. There are a set amount of random loot. Lets say 30 whites, 20 blues, 10 yellows, 2 unique.
3. X random gems from each color.
4. You have x time (1 hour for example) to build your passive tree and gear up.

League play:

After the X time then everyone is randomly spawned on all the maps.
The winners for these areas then battle in the final match.

You can tweak it some but this is the general idea.

Weekend long iron man events. perhaps straight 72 hour race or maybe even 3 days with hour restricted play, so people can work/sleep.
Now presenting! Venom ink; malice in the pen, poison on the paper, anger in the mind.

I have not read all pages, but there don't seem to be many PVE leagues, so:

A hardcore mode but u start with a fairly high HP, but there is absolutely no way to ever regain hp. ever. so every time u get hit really matters.

or

a just for fun league that does not carry into regular mode, where u start at max level and no gear but every mob u kill reduces exp/lowers your level instead. don't think u could ever beat the game like this but im sure people would still try

After reading the article on the Leagues system, do you have any ideas for leagues or game modes that you think we should support?

Hey chris, thanks for the question of do we have any ideas.

with the chance to set league rules and tweak them to play how we would want. with that in mind. my Idea would be an interface that looks like the server/avatar selection screen would have a drop down for league rules and max players.
in this specific league i would want to see major swarms and lots of boss packs. and have battle of who can clear and survive the mass zombie attack(mob example)with in the map it could be solo or group I do think it should be (FF)Friendly fire on.

could have also group pvp/raid maps where some players say max 25 on each side have to fight swarms on a open map with buildings or walls and fight to the middle with an epic pvp battle at the end.The clash so to speak. you can only use the items that drop all players would be set to level specified.By players. A map close to like cross roads.

as for you're already posted league ideals i can see my self playing on all of them. I really like the sound of Iron man and ofc i like cut-throat.attrition sounds fun too.I would like to see open pvp attrition and every one is in a more or less a group so there is only one instance with re-spawnable mobs.only low swarm mobs. All players are solid to each other. so open pvp. so you fight for mobs and fight to stay alive. and who has the most points wins and gear could be a bonus.
Hi,

I wrote some criticism on Leagues in an extra topic here:

Hi,

I have noticed that there are currently 4 leagues:
Default,Legacy,HC Default, HC Legacy and at least 2 more will follow: Cutthroat default and Cutthroat Legacy. And then maybe several paid leagues.

Isn't that possibly a bit too much?

A big factor for me to play this game is the upcoming PvP mode. In which leagues will it be? Most people that play the game for PvP want to make only 1-2 chars and stuff them perfectly. And then stop farming. When they are moved to Legacy then what are they doing? The good players will probably stay in Legacy and do theit duels their. But the PvP-Events (if there will be any) will probably be in Default.

I played Diablo 2(and other games) occassionally to regularly from 1999(?) to 2012 and saw it going down with the Ladder mode. For some bot-noobs it was good yeah and brought some more users maybe. But for the PvP or PK players it sucked because it was spread up. Most of the PvP happened in Nonladde (Legacy) then. Had the effect that all the experienced and skilled players were in the "old" game mode and all the noobs and botters in the "regular".

Diablo 2 had many players and even there it was a problem. I assume that PoE will have a lot of players but not as many as D2 so splitting it up how many (?) game modes does not make big sense to me.

When D2 was new, there was no comparable game. Today there are so many MMO, RPG, Browswergames etc etc. that you maybe want to keep a hard core of players in one league that stay loyal to this game and not spread them over many leagues.

You see the emigration on D3 - They don't like it, they leave, play something else.

Actually have no suggestions in mind, just my 2 cents!

Mo

I was thinking of adding extremely low drop rates as a rule. Orbs, rares, and uniques are exponentially harder to obtain forcing players to make use of any item they get.
I would like to see a four player pvp league where each of the four players start at each gate in the crossroads and then move to the middle and have a 4 player battle.
How bout a league called manhunt. Say 1/5 of the players are "the man" and are the only players you can kill. They can be indicated by something above their head, maybe a flashy aura, but it needs to be distinguishable. Players who are "the man" rotate at 6 hour (maybe more or less) intervals. Kills against "the man" are 1 point, kills as the man may equal 5 or some other number. Reset ladder whenever available in hardcore or softcore. You could even use it combined with other leagues.
The man in black fled across the desert, and the gunslinger followed.
I'd really like to see a cross between a hardcore/iron man style, and an RP style league.

Bear in mind I'm fairly new around here, so I'm not sure of exactly how things work (namely with heals/resses from other players) but I'm gonna wing it anyway to get the basic idea across.

So, first and foremost, you have one life, and drop anything you have on you on death. The rp exception being if other players can res you, that's allowed. Health regen would be at a bare minimum, mana regen could also be reduced or left as is.

Here's the interesting (possibly undoable) part though, and what really combines HC and RP. You have a lvl cap set (by the game, not you) at creation where your char "dies" of old age. If at all possible, tie this somehow to your characters HP. If you last until you die of old age, everything that char had goes to your stash which can be used by the next char you create there. You are only allowed one active character.

I'd also like to see a starve/dehydrate risk, but that's usually very clunky and boring when it's in mind from the get go, so who knows? We'll put a pin in that one for now.

Last thing. As to PvP, I'd like to keep it RP-PvP, but I'm not sure how built for that kind of thing the system is. The best system for this I've ever seen is creating an "insult token", which you trade with someone, they can choose to ignore you, or trade an insult token back. Once you have each others insult token you are "flagged for PvP" with each other.

This way, if there's ever a "so and so ganked me!" kind of thing, you can show "Look, I have that guys insult token right here, he knew what he was getting into". A more free for all kind of system could work well too, but you'd need labels for people, if you gank in town for example, that town considers you a murderer and you are flagged KoS by the guards, where as ganking out in the forest is more considered a "hazard of travel".

Sorry for the length and babbling, hope it gets some ideas across.
